  1. I think of mapping as a creative outlet just like drawing or writing, in that way I believe it shares some similarities with producing art. For once when I map I find myself relaxed and I'm fulfilled when I get to play one of the wads I finished. I think it helps with mental health and the best thing is mapping is so easy and accessible it doesn't take a lot to produce a decent map (unlike drawing for example which requires years of training). I have tons of unfinished wads sitting on my hard drive that I started but never finished and I kinda made "for myself" not meant to be played by anyone else. But maybe one day I'll compile them into one wad that I'll publish... The reason I made this post is I wanted to know if anyone else experiences this too. How does mapping "help" you?
  2. Yeah DOORYEL and DOORYEL2 were swapped but I fixed it now, thanks for bringing it to my attention, I also fixed the REDWALL and all the other animated textures.
  3. Hello everyone, how many textures from the original Doom wad published in 1993 can you name? I recently made a quiz on a website called "Sporcle" where you can test how many you can type out of a total of 329 textures (every wall and flat in the game). I got a 42% but I'm planning on memorizing the names of all of them Link: https://www.sporcle.com/games/HotCoffee/doom-all-textures-names
  4. Not bad for your first map, maybe it's a little too claustrophobic, there's not enough space. Some doors open in an uncommon manner by lowering to the floor level instead of rising to the ceiling. Other than that it's fine.
  5. The fact that you can't get 100% secrets on E4M3 without cheating. The game would have been perfect otherwise
  6. It'a shame I didn't find these bugs before releasing the map, it all worked fine when I playtested it
  7. I'm sorry that happened, that also wasn't supposed to happen once you get the blue key the switch door was supposed to stay open.
  8. Thanks! I made it myself like every other custom asset in the map (except the music)
  9. "As you venture through the woods you finally reach the castle. It is rumored that it's haunted by all sorts of demonic creatures, you're here to find out if it's true. As you firmly grip your pistol you make your way into the snowy castle..." This is a boom-compatible map of medium size. It contains every weapon of Doom 1 you can find all of them if you look hard enough. It is recommended to play in Ultra-Violence. Have fun! P.S. because in my previous map some people complained about candelabras being in the way this time I left them in the storage room. ==== Wad Info ==== IWAD: Ultimate Doom Map slot: E1M1 Tested with: Boom , prBoom+, GzDoom, DSDA-Doom. (Should work on any boom-compatible port) ==== Download ==== idgames
  10. Can I ask for my wad to be released on a specific date even if I upload it today? If so where can I ask?
  11. The texture is used in the upper part of the linedef, it's supposed to be a door. The texture is 40x88 and displays correctly in the editor. The patch used to make the texture is 128x128, previously it was 40x88 but I changed it because I tought it was the cause of the problem. I'm running chocolate-doom
  12. I found these two textures in DOOM.WAD but I've never seen them in-game, anyone knows what they were supposed to be used for?
  13. I made this video on how to compile LinuxDoom on Linux. I think it can help you
  14. @Clippy Thanks for playing my wad! I decided to make a thread here:
