Ok played through this on hmp. Very creative and interesting maps. But I don't think I'm the right audience for it per se lol. Fights just felt overly chaotic for me and lots of trial and error(map02 start, map03 start, and most of map05 for the chaotic description) Also I suck at platforming, and having to platform during some fights killed me so so many times. I did almost just quit at map02 2nd big fight because I couldn't figure out a good strategy. I ended up "cheesing" it a little by waking up hell knights slowly to kill one side of revs so there was enough room to move around (for me) to actually not die instantly. I think map04 was my favorite. The green slime was annoying but also fun to strategize. Felt good to figure those out. Even though the clean up on the last fight was pretty tedious imo. Just the revs. I did play it in RC1 so maybe the update made things easier or less annoying for ppl like me lol Overall I like it, I was more in awe in how extreme the fights felt lol.. -

It was a great map. Though I suck at secrets I think I found 2/15 lol. The secret/optional fight was really fun tho. I got stunlocked at a certain point, I can't remember the context of the area but it was a cramped area with viles in the middle and HKs appearing through 2 doors besides the viles. It's like a split second of hesitation when the fight starts and you'll run out of room if you don't kill them asap. -

Thanks for the demos and small description, always appreciated :) I did just upload a V3 that makes the final area in map03 more difficult lol. Nothing crazy but after thinking back of Ryiron's demo and I gave the player some "firey" incentive to not stay in the first area. But yeah V3 changes the dynamics of the final area of map03 a bit. fixed some more texture errors I saw of demos etc. Added a little more ammo in Map03 in spots as well. also @reefer glad you're enjoying it as well! Tag instead of quote cuz I barely know how forums work it seems. As hard as my maps seem to some I do think they're in the more accessible type of slaughter when viewed along side other hard wads. Glad I can help level ppl up so to speak lol -

UDB has tools to do that. I also made a few arches by hand before discovering them. In sector mode at the top of the editor there's buttons to make floor and ceiling gradients. You can choose between linear and sine wave stuff. Very useful. -

Wow thanks a lot! I'll be honest I did have the thought back of my mind like, "is this too derivitive?' I'm glad that it seems like it's not. I do focus on atmosphere a lot, it's hard for me to pick music as I need it to be perfect lol. -

Just played through all of it this morning. Really good stuff! I do echo some other users sentiments though, the last few levels feel rushed compared to the rest of the set, mostly map 7 8 and 9. Combat is solid all around just these levels have a lack of detail compared to the rest of the set, in either texture work or lighting. Map 8 especially felt a little off as a final level of an episode. I Think adding a few cybers to the final fight would make it a tad more interesting than just herding cattle but it does leave a certain impression. The final area of the "house" was great though. Favorite levels were 1,2,3 and 6. Oh and the marble faces on map5 looked like they smoked too much weed lol. -

Thanks a lot! I'm glad I could get you out of your comfort zone a bit. I really appreciate the Comments on map02. Overall map layout is something I struggle with so it started to click with me more on this map. I did learn from this wad I like making more compact encounters a little more than big ones. When picking music i decided to revist wads i take good inspiration from. The track for map02 I found again from Fractured World's map03. I completely understand the thought of long maps are hard to revisit. Making map03 makes me not want to make a map of that size anytime soon cuz it was draining towards the end. I thought about not having a big finale type area but I didn't want to make it a separate map04 for the fight idea. I have some small changes I want to implement and a hopefully final update soon. -

Hey thanks for the demos @ryiron ! gave me some thoughts on some possible changes. Maybe add some rockets to map03 in a few spots. I never ran low in ammo while testing so when those pesky arachnos were still alive it made that other fight weird. All the "cheese" you found didn't feel too bad because you still died several times. Actually the 2nd wave in the fight with the pit, you can lure the revs out and start the next fight. Don't press both buttons and the cybers can shoot the revs while seeing you in between the purple tech pillar. I left that in because even I got annoyed a little at that fight and it's kinda speedrun strats lol. I do have a habit of wanting to make increasingly big fights but they never turn out too difficult. After the manic arena the library is Im ok with it in this map, Im going to try to lean off huge ass arenas in the future. You can always speed things up by pressing the buttons right away and causing more infighting cuz it makes the baby cybers spawn as well. I could also maybe use a different color than green to signal progression, sometimes I used purple but if you had trouble figuring out where to go I wanna say because the switch or area had green around when fucking everything else has green too :P -

Released Embraced yesterday. Probably hardest I worked on a wad. I'm apart of a few discord projects but making this constantly almsot burnt me out. Idk if I'll be able to release another personal project this year but we'll see. I always have ideas though.

Updated post with V2 already. Fixed most of the stuff eater29 pointed out :) Certain fight in question now has teleporter effects so you can be more aware of the monsters location. Raised some floors around death pits in the final area so you're not confused if you can go on them or not. -

Hmm I never had much issue with ammo. Map02 is a little more ammo conscious as well, but I added some ammo last minute to map02. In map01 and 2 you really have to use the cybers to kill most of the stuff. Map03 is a more linear slaughter adventure and ammo shouldnt be a huge issue hopefully. The first fight with the raising walls, and especially the fight after the red key door, the cyber can kill almost every enemy on the ground level after you go up top and activate the pinky rev trap. -

Awesome thanks for playing them so quick! Surprised I didn't notice the HOM in that fight. As for killing turret monsters on your own I understand the mild complaint, I didn't think my placement was too bad and always gave enough ammo so it never bothered me. As for the other stuff, -
Embraced is small set of 3 maps focusing on combat puzzle and slaughter(4th map progress stopper). Adding again to the green techbase crowd but this time with a lot of wood textures! Also map names are song names. Difficulty is on the "medium" side if we compare this wad to the high standard of today's community. Dont be afraid to drop it down to HMP if UV is too rough. I will say this is probably the hardest maps Ive made but only slightly. So prepare to be Embraced!
