Is Doom Returns alive? Regardless, I'm not sure if this is dead because episode 3 didn't release this year, but Ima have to agree with the last person to say anything on the thread (just wanted to avoid bumping it), because the levels really are similar with big boxes, not to mention how many linear corridor shooting rooms there are. Like for instance, the giant hallway of monsters in map 9. This plays more like wolfenstein than doom, with it having very rare moments of verticality. The previous person meant that the levels were similar in the sense that the level design and layout was similar, not the theming, which is cool, unique, and different in every map. The custom scripting is cool and all, and so are the themes and enemies, but it doesn't really matter if the levels aren't really enjoyable to play/feel repetitive.

Yes! Episode 3 was delayed a few months as we work to finish it. Working on it literally all the time. Sorry for not communicating this. We got so few posts on our last couple release threads that we didn’t think anybody cared about the status. We’ll post a status update soon.
Thanks for your feedback. We tried to mix classic Doom design with a bit more realism in terms of layout, and this resulted in the things you mentioned at times. But we are just happy to hear someone say something at all and know that people played it, as it’s been so quiet. So thank you!
