One day after sniffing some glue, i decided to fiddle with the jumper less clock settings in that blue screen whatsit just to see what would happen and now that my computer won't even start, I need to reset my CMOS, so there are one or two things I need to know:
is there any advantage to messing with the jumpers over just popping the battery out?
And I'm problby going to need to reinstall windows aren't I?- Show previous comments 3 more

All you need to know about jumper settings is what you've just been told. The jumper will be one little pair of pins next to your CMOS battery. Put a jumper-cap over them and (for some boards) leave it there for a while. Get yourself some food or something. Then come back, remove the jumper-cap, and turn on your machine.
The jumper you have to set is more than likely that which is closest to your CMOS battery. If you have other jumpers really close to there, then seen reference. I've found motherboard documentation online a few times, after a little effort in identifying the board. Shouldn't be too much trouble.
Don't fuck with the battery itself. You don't need to. -
