  1. @wheresthelambsauce pretty good wad in general, thanks for my next megawad to play through
  2. I just realized noone ever uses the Nazi stuff, but a quality Wolfenstein wad would be so bad ass as we only know those textures in lame Wolfenstein geometry.
  3. strikes me as sadistic tbh because to me this is a hint for a hidden exit
  4. ok just one thing, why the teleporters before the exit, I've searched everything for a hidden exit. What if not a hint to go back to the map and search is this?
  5. that music is the punishment for not adding music? 😅
  6. ok at some point I really lost track of which original maps are supposed to be the "source" - keeping the music would probably have helped to prevent that, but I dont necessarily think that it's a bad thing. Oh and btw I really enjoyed your music for itself too. I gotta say this map pack shows that you have an abundance of creativity. But I really think it deserves some polish because it has potential for more. You seem to be the type of person who prefers jumping to a new map (I'm like the opposite). The difficulty is fine monster wise, although at times there is really an abundance of items, this has to be overworked.
  7. the objective reason repeated dying is not fun is because beating a challenge just by repetition, learning a pattern to cheese the fuck out of a situation does actually not take any imaginative thinking or mechanic skill. Some games are actually challenging - particularly pvp - running in circles and senseless trial and error isn't.
  8. this is a rant about overly difficult maps, which I guess spawned the hole sub genre of slaughter maps. I might offend some people so be warned. Now I know map authors are prone to the fallacy about their maps that the difficulty is just right because they play tested it a thousand times and just know how to finish it, I am guilty of this myself. But there are other factors. Sure, you may just like killing lots of monsters. But of course there's a psychological background to putting yourself through torturing difficulty. Listen, I know that anyone who plays such maps dies a lot. No, you can't fool anyone. But the fact that you are unable to acknowledge "hey, this isn't fun" is a hint that something is not right. The ego can't take it, you gotta prove to yourself that you're a "good gamer", you know, the old school, who grew up with shitty hard games. Maybe I was guilty of this aswell, but I got over it, maybe that's why I have this issue now. But you gotta reach a point where either you did in fact prove something to yourself, or you gotta accept the uncomfortable truth. I think we're all adults at this point. Have some self awareness please Why am I just not playing those maps? Well some maps are just fucking good, despite everything and it's a pity to skip a good map because good maps are rare. Also some 30map packs just have the occasional "good gamer" map in between. And it pisses me off that the pride of some old dudes is spoiling my fun. /rant over. Of course noone is obligated to deliver anything to anyone here and I'm thankful for all the output regardless its quality but especially for the talent show cased in many projects - keep it coming and do your thing.
  9. Wow am I blind? I swear I went through all the settings multiple times on multiple occasions. I'm glad this exists. Thank you
  10. it feels a bit odd, like you had fed an AI Doom2 and told it to make levels.. not that the maps are bad, it's just something about this "recycled" concept 👀
  11. nice little (polished!) map. looks more like Duke Nukem texture wise though. Doom has to look like Doom says the OCD inside of me ;) @thelamp I dont know why the rocket launcher played you that hard, the box would just lower for me hitting that big switch(edit: i think its a walkable line on the chain gunner pads)
  12. what? no no I did get to the eye switch without the yellow key... I mean this elevator
  13. very nice map, the only critique I have is the amount of buttons whose function is unclear. also there are far too many items available, I finished the map with 400 bullets 86 shells, 510 cells and 15 rockets (HMP, killed Cyberdemon). I softlocked myself at the eye switch area because I completely overlooked the yellow key. You need to put in a walk trigger for the elevator.
  14. yeah it seems I missed quite some trickery. Is there a way to enable manual vertical aiming in DSDA though? Free look lets you look freely but the weapons still auto aim..
