  1. The fact that the Jaguar version is so good has nothing to do with the hardware, but rather with John Carmack's programming skills - the same applies to the new Doom port for the 32X Resurrection by Victor Luchits. Both simply know their craft. On the other hand, the 3DO isn't exactly the best hardware for Doom (12.5 MHz CPU) and a talented Rebecca Heineman can't do magic either, she told the bosses at 3DO that she needed at least 6 months for decent performance. She was given 10 weeks to port and had to start from scratch. By the way, me and my brother each had a 3DO, and my brother had a Jaguar and I had a 32X. We played the most 32X...
  2. Units Sold 3DO approximately 2 million units Atari Jaguar approximately 150,000 units 32X 800,000 approx. units I would say yes
  3. Duke Nukem 3D Genesis, Metal Head 32X to name just a few ...
  4. I think this graphic could also be done on the Mega CD, perhaps even in better quality? Wolfenstein 3D already runs on a stock Mega Drive, as GASEGA68K has impressively proven with its port.
  5. A version of Alone in the Dark was also planned for the 32X, but it was also canceled.
  6. Romero has already expressly stated that nothing more will be published because ID Software has not given him permission. And they are the rights holders of the game.
  7. Sometimes less is more, too much of a good thing is never good... I don't even like Doom II
  8. The music on the Pandemonium map sounds strange to me. A kind of annoying noise occurs, which sounds like a beeping. Strangely only this map is affected.
  9. I don't really like SIGIL, it doesn't really fit the Jaguar/32X Doom.
  10. The automap no longer appears throughout the game unless you pick up the auto item as seen in the video.
  11. The Jaguar Tower of Babel is now MAP 27 and is one of the secret levels and is now called "Hell Gate". No level has been lost, some are just called differently now. The game now has 27 levels, 8 plus 1 secret level per episode including a secret exit. Mount Erebus was expanded the most. Some levels have been renamed to avoid confusion with the levels of the same name in the console version. By the way: My automap is broken and the music in Refinery strangely stops at some point? I use Fusion.
  12. John Carmack has described that the Jaguar's M68K is insufficient to run the Doom 1 engine on its own, the Sega CD has roughly the same CPU with the same clock speed. Even the CPUs from SAT/PS1 and 3DO are weak here, the problem is not the graphics but the game logic of the engine, which doesn't really run well on the Risc CPUs of the time. This is probably also the reason why the Doom Engine never had a great future on the Playstation. While the Quake II survives and is used to this day. Also on consoles ... Certainly a maze FPS would be possible on the Sega CD, but not DOOM! Something better than Bloodshot would certainly be possible.
  13. Does this mean the Mega Drive or 32X uses the cartridge storage space as slow RAM?
  14. Unfortunately does not work with Kega Fusion. Another question, what ROM size can a game under Kega Fusion have? Super Street Fighter II with 5 megabytes is supported, but Pier Solar and the Great Architects with 8 megabytes unfortunately no longer?
