Antares talked about this in another thread.

I used the AppImage from the Github release. The MIDI Player options I'm getting are DEFAULT-GM.SF2, FLUIDR3_GM.SF2, TIMGM6MB.SF2 and DEFAULT-GM.SF3 for Fluidsynth, and the OPL3 emulation. I put RLNDGM in the soundfonts folder, but it didn't add any other options.

Is it possible to add soundfont files to the AppImage? I extracted Woof with AppImageTool and placed my SF2 file into the soundfonts folder(where TimGM6mb.sf2 is) and then repackaged the AppImage. I expected there would be an option in MIDI Player to run Fluidsynth with the SF2 file like Fluidsynth(TimGM6mb.sf2), but no new options appeared.

Top 10 videos games of all time (your personal list)
FEZ_GG replied to Kokoro Hane's topic in Everything Else
Limiting myself to 10 is hard. I have a bunch of games I'd consider to be all-time favorites, but I picked the ones with the most variety. Celeste - Fluid movement and a skill ceiling that seems limitless. Super Smash Bros 4 - IDK if this is my preferred Smash game but it's the one that brought me to my closest friends. Doom Eternal - Improving at Eternal's combat loop gives me a high like no other. Journey - The only game I played that made me feel enlightenment. Radiant Historia - Favorite jRPG, and probably my favorite main character. The Wonderful 101 - Such a unique hack & slash with a cheesy yet charming style. Zelda: Twilight Princess - Pretty flawed, but I have way too much nostalgia for this Zelda. Super Metroid - Sequence breaking this game is always fun. Chrono Trigger - 2nd favorite jRPG, forever a classic. Final Fantasy Dissidia 012 - This was actually my gateway into most of the FF series. -
How many hours spent playing Doom over your life time?
FEZ_GG replied to ActRaiser's topic in Doom General
I've been playing with Doom Launcher, which keeps track of how much time I've spent with each WAD, so I have a fairly good idea of how much time I've put in. In addition to that, I also have playtime recorded on my Switch for Doom 1 & 2, which adds up to 65 hours. There's also 20 something hours I put into TNT Evilution before I started using Doom Launcher. Put all that together, and I have about 490 hours of Doom. It's only been about 1 year since I started, but looks like I already got a good chunk of time in. -
Back when I first played Doom 2, I was scared of Pain Elementals when I first encountered them in Map 9. It wasn't about how they kept spawning Lost Souls, but more of their appearance. I can't really describe what it is, but when I first saw them, something about their design came off as extremely unsettling. That fear only lasted for that one map, and afterwards there wasn't much of an issue. I still hated dealing with them due to gameplay reasons, but now I know how they work and how to exploit them. I didn't feel this way with Doom 64's Pain Elemental design, even though that one probably should be more disturbing with its 2 mouths. I was intrigued by what I was looking at, but didn't feel any kind of fear.

What was your first megawad, other than doom 2, Plutonia or TNT
FEZ_GG replied to Johnny Cruelty's topic in WAD Discussion
Strangely enough, my first megawad outside of the IWADs was Extermination Day. I don't usually play total conversion mods anymore, but when I was first discovering the Doom modding scene, I was intrigued by Project Brutality and wanted to give it a go with a mappack designed for it. Of course that was meant for Brutal Doom and not PB, but I still had a good time, especially with how you can dash-jump through the levels. Amusingly I played Doom 1, 2, TNT, and then E-Day before I got to Plutonia. After that I've stuck with more vanilla mappacks and only occasionally dabble in more drastic changes. -
I'm going through my first playthrough of Plutonia 2 right now. The first 10+ levels weren't too bad, and I even got through some of them deathless on my first try. However, from Map 15 onwards the difficulty suddenly shot up, and I'm loving it. I've also come to admire Gusta's level design, even if a few of the maps blend together in my memory due to their similarities. It's not hampering my enjoyment, fortunately. I've put about 19 hours in so far, and I just beat Map 24. The change in mapping style from the previous maps to Erik Alm's was recognizable right away, and I was surprised at how tense I was throughout the whole level. I really admire how enemy placement was handled in this map, but it also makes me worried for what I'll encounter in Scythe 2, as that was what I planned to play next.

Congratulations on clearing Maelstrom! How much have you been saving in Sunlust, if at all? I've been UV-maxing difficult WADs to build up my skill toward Sunlust, so I'll be in your position soon. I just got done with Hell Revealed and Alien Vendetta, and currently on Plutonia 2, before moving on to Scythe 2 and finally Sunlust.

Is there a good way to organize your Doom folder?
FEZ_GG replied to Shikamaze's topic in Doom General
My directory could use a bit of organizing, such as putting Slade, ZDL, Doom Launcher and Doom Builder into a Utilities folder as others have done. I don't like having a single folder for all WAD files, as they have all sorts of purposes. I like to separate them by their use, such as having one folder for mappack WADs and another for music WADs. I also distinguished between total conversion mods(Russian Overkill) and slight alterations(DamNums, Target Spy), and have separate files for them. I'm also considering making another folder for HUDs, as I use a fair amount, and having a folder for them would be nice. I also have a separate Config folder for GZDoom, as I like to use different config files for different mappacks for the sake of convenience. As others mentioned, I use Doom Launcher for starting up my games, and constantly re-adding the same mods for each instance of a WAD can be tedious. Instead I create a Config file for a certain mod or compatibility, add the mods I want to use in the file's Autoload section, and paste the filepath into Doom Launcher's parameters section. I can't add all mods into Autoload due to compatibility issues between them(Plutonia-NP being autoloaded can overwrite text in mods loaded afterwards) but it's still very convenient. -
I share that sentiment beyond just Doom. Mega Man's another case where I have a hard time recalling each individual piece, even though I'm rocking out to those tunes in the moment. Reusing music helps make the tracks a lot more memorable, especially when given proper theming. I think this can be done in Doom, but it's at its most effective when the levels that reuse that one track share a level theme, such as 2 lava maps, or 2 small, action-packed maps like Dead Simple.

I've been working on Scythe over the last several days. I breezed through Map 1-10 in an hour, while Maps 11-20, 31 & 32 took me about 2 hours. I'm not opposed to short and sweet levels, but the first half of Scythe is a little too bare for my liking. Fortunately the game picked up at Map 15, and since then I've been having a great time. Maps 21-28 gave me a bit of a struggle, but they never felt impossible. Playing Eviternity and the Micro-Slaughter Community Project probably bumped up my skill level enough for those levels. I didn't mind Run From It either, probably because I do speedrun other games and playing this way felt fairly natural. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of Map 29. It doesn't feel like a Scythe map, and the 2 opening Archviles were a pain to deal with. In hindsight, with how much time I spend in buildings I probably didn't need to worry about them at the start, but that did sour my enjoyment, and the rest of the level didn't make up for it. Maps 21-29 took 2 1/2 hours total. Just got Map 30 left, and I'm saving that beast for tomorrow.

How you discovered the Doom series? / Your first time playing Doom?
FEZ_GG replied to DooMBoy's topic in Doom General
I first heard of Doom back in the Angry Video Game Nerd's Sega 32X video, but I wouldn't touch the game until 2021. I use my Switch to play games during my lunch break at work, and Doom was one of the titles I had bought in earlier sales.(it was $1.50 and I had gold coins for it) I was amazed at how well Doom had aged and how fun it was, but I didn't get hooked until June when I decided to look into source ports. As previously mentioned, decino's videos helped increase my interest. With all the Youtube content that's been gaining traction over the last couple of years and the ease of access with the console ports, it feels like there's never been a better time to get into Doom. -
What gear do you use to play Doom (mouse, pad, keyboard, monitor)?
FEZ_GG replied to Fluuschoen's topic in Doom General
Monitor: 23 inch Insignia TV that I've had for 8 years. Keyboard: Hyper X Alloy FPS mechanical keyboard. Mouse: Razer Naga Left-Handed edition. This particular mouse has become vital to FPS's for me. I use all the side buttons for swapping to weapons so I can keep my fingers on the movement keys at all times. -
While going through TNT Revilution, I'm also playing Yugioh Master Duel. I wasn't initially interested in playing a game from Konami, but its free, and my friends were getting into it, so I figured I'd jump in. Constructing a deck is fun and does let me relive some nostalgia, but my God, the meta's brutal. I know it's been bad for about a decade, but until I was able to construct a competent deck, I was getting obliterated. It feels so easy for the player to bring out a powerful card that stops the opponent from taking action. I've made a lot of adjustments to my deck so I can hold my own now, but getting to this point was a struggle.
