  1. I enjoyed it, love the fleshy blood fountain in the room with the sludge falls. This inspires me to make more maps.
  2. The rest of mine. I may have been playing the wrong complevel or just bad at finding switches, but towards the end of 30 was missing something, hopefully I didn't miss much by idclip-ing through the red skull posts when I had both keys. Icon of Sin fights are hard to do right. This one is....better than Doom II's. I'm just so bad at timing the rocket when you do it from a lift, I always like it when the fight doesn't involve rocket timing, but that's of course my opinion and my lack of skill, at full display in my attempt below.
  3. Maps 26-28. 27 was a bit...basic? Not terrible, just basic. The others were great, difficulty is getting to my limits. When I find myself holding down fire with the BFG, I start to lose interest. Should be finishing this up sometime in the next few days.
  4. Stream of maps 16 to 20. Really digging the wide variety of mapping styles on display here. Map 18 in particular was very interesting with it's "this is supposed to be a real place" vibes. Not a lot of slow-burn levels like that, but it ended up working good for it.
  5. Stream of maps 12 to 15, either I got a lot better since the previous session or these give a bit of a breather compared to the last few maps.
  6. Stream of Map 9, 10, and 11 below. Map 9 got a bit goofy for me with the wolf3D bit. 10 and 11 were better, though I did get lost in 11 many times.
  7. My stream of maps 1 through 8 below. Enjoying it so far, nice mix of styles and difficulty so far. Nothing so hard as to be frustrating (yet). I plan on streaming more soon.
  8. I had a vastly different experience with Arrival maps 2-4 and the rest of the maps. This may have been due to my own sleep deprivation during the first session, but I found those specific maps to be a lot harder. The rest were a fun romp with mid-tier difficulty but enough space and ammo to never feel unfair or constricted. When I died too much I was able to approach it from a different angle or backtrack for ammo or fighting space. Full playthrough in 3 sessions below, it's pretty obvious that I was struggling mentally during the first session, you can see my play improve drastically during the final two.
  9. Finished up Cydonia. Overall a very enjoyable experience, it stayed consistent in the short but intense combat design. Encounters never felt unfair or slaughtery. Map 20: Reaper - This one stood out to me the most out of the whole WAD. It was the perfect blend of chaotic and intense combat, but with enough space, ammo and health to always have an escape and supplies to regroup and go back at it, but enough enemies that an escape was never a full retreat. Final chunk of my playthrough below.
  10. Cydonia MAP08-14 Maps are getting harder, but they don't outstay their welcome. I find that once I find a foothold from the hot starts I'm (mostly) able to stay on top of things. Still a LOT of chaingunners, but that's as advertised.
  11. Enjoying Cydonia so far, I like the shorter map format. All my deaths so far have been due to my own incompetence, nothing feels too cheap. Here's my playthrough of maps 01-07
  12. Thanks everybody for the feedback, much appreciated!! I've started on my next set of maps, going to go for at least 3 in the next WAD, maybe more but I don't want to overcommit (especially with Elden Ring coming out tomorrow). I'll be coming back to this thread to review everything while I polish the new maps. There will be more ambushes and I'll try to have enemies coming from more than one side :)
  13. Single MAP01, Boom format, tested with PRboom+ (dsda-doom) and GZDoom. Doom 2 is the IWAD used. This is my first map that I would consider "completed" by any means. I know there's a lot of different themes, if I proceed to a longer project I would want to stretch them over multiple maps. Feedback is welcome and desired as long as it's constructive. It has support for difficulties, UV is what was tested the most and recommended. Difficulty is Final Doom-ish. Specific details are in the .txt file included in the .zip, screenshots below. fio.zip - This contains fio.wad, fio.deh (also included in the wad for modern ports), and fio.txt. If you just want the .wad, https://wadhosting.com/Wad/241EC2814DECABDB5B9B80BA9B37B5EC7150F9AF I regularly stream Doom wads and mapping, https://twitch.tv/narrowtomato Screenshots below
