Hey all, Been 2 Months now since the project started which means it is once again time for a monthly check-up. I'll be wanting to see any progress on your maps even a general idea would be nice too! Me personally I've been very strained on time but things should be opening up in the coming weeks for sure, I'm somewhat expecting a surge of activity over the summer as that is when I'd imagine most people would have a bunch of free time to spare.

As per Xaser's suggestion the map slot taking has been lifted and is more of a reservation if anything now. Format is MBF21 as per Xaser's suggestion. If you have claimed a word and any map position will be decided according based on how difficult your map is relative to the others with the defined map slots. Difficulty wise i should've stated this in the main post but silly me i forgot. We should be going for about Plutonia Experiment difficulty. I will update the main post accordingly. But difficulty is subjective so if we don't like the idea i'll remove it. I am dreadfully sorry if that messes anyone's plans up!

Hello all, have you wanted to start mapping yet struggle to find a premise? or perhaps have a really good idea but don't know what the theme would be alongside it? Well I have the solution for you I hope! Welcome to... Knee Deep in the Dictionary! I have created a list of about 40 (English) Words for you to choose from for your map, you can interpret these words however you like. The Maps name isn't restricted however preferably it should include the chosen word in it. I know it's weird that a DOOM 2 project is named after a DOOM 1 episode, I'll admit that. You can pick whichever word for whichever map, words will be marked through when taken. If you struggle on a word and how to interpret it feel free to use Dictionary.com We'll be using MBF21 for this project and it has a maximum 33 participant slots. The difficulty should be around Plutonia level Rules: 1. Use the List you cannot choose your own words there's more than enough. 2. No limit on submission but do allow others a chance! 3. Custom Textures are allowed: 32in24-15 v2 will be the only set you can use. 4. Tools like Oblige and its variants are not allowed. 5. Custom Midis are allowed. The Goal is: 33 Maps [30 Main, 3 Secret] The Deadline is: SEPTEMBER 1ST 2024 The submission format is: [MAP NAME AND NUM] [SONG USED] [MAPPER COMMENT (Optional)] [CUSTOM TEXTURES] [DOWNLOAD] The Word List: MAP SLOTS: Happy Mapping!

RC3 is here, sorry for it being very late. It should fix quite a lot of major issues people found, thank you for pointing them out. I will also be planning my next community project idea, it will come when I have thought it through and weighed options and potential interest. -

Slight update on RC3: I've been pretty busy the last few days leaving me very little time to focus on the update, i've been chipping away at alterations and fixes slowly but surely. I cannot give a confident release date or release window. It'll be out when it's out. :) -

It is with the greatest pleasure that I can say that 1K1K a community project I started back in August 2023 is finally here! This is a separate post for convenience, and a huge thank you to all who participated! - The Original Post can be found here if anyone is curious about how it progressed - Link to the OG Thread/Post - Breakdown - Ideal compatibility is Limit Removing Tested to load fine with DSDA with minimal issue 33 Maps that are all a 1000x1000 -> 1024x1024 area Check Info+Credits-1k1k.txt for the proper credits and additional information - Warnings - Map 31 and 33 use engine quirks that may make them unplayable on certain ports. Map 29 is a fully fledged boom map, softlocks on -cl2, but trust me it's so good. - Story - Doomguy is called to a mysterious house after the events of Doom 2, the residents insist he visit as they have a demon problem. The house is no ordinary house, it's a mansion of sorts with strange rooms that seem to lead to various small enclosed spaces that Doomguy's auto-map register as 1000x1000 he must investigate the various "Rooms" of the house being 33 in total and clear out the demons to satisfy its mysterious residents. - Screenshots - - Download RC3 - Download RC3 Here [Fixed a whole lot] LET ME KNOW OF ANY ISSUES SO I CAN FIX EM!!! Welp December 31st is here. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas if you celebrate it. First off the Wad will be out within January. I'm not delaying it beyond that and a separate post will be made for Launch. Submissions are closed now and any changes you wanted to make should've been made and released before now. @Pegleg Your map is the very last thing that needs to be sent so i can get the wad out, whether life got in the way or simply other projects took priority, that's whatever. Just get a finished version in my hands by the 7th. Thank you all for your co-operation yet again and i'll see you all when this releases. [P.S. If map23 isn't done by the 7th then the wad will launch with a placeholder until that map23 is sent to me.] -

Right then i can safely say now, that without a shadow of a doubt. 1K1K IS SO CLOSE TO BEING DONE! (like 95%) all textures have been added without issue, just need to do skies that'll be done with UMAPINFO simultaneously as it'll make my life so much easier. I just need to finish the title art and add UMAPINFO. And as for the "story" i think people will get a kick out of it. I'm just waiting on map23 of course, and Raith get that map19 update done soon. The deadline is in 3 weeks. Once again thank you to all that have participated :) -

Hello all, been while i'd say but as it's december time to do my monthly check up well.. i would if there was anything to check up! except 1 thing. The wad is essentially done, i just need to add in the custom textures and music and the final maps. It should be out by next year! And i've decided to skip out on re-reviewing certain maps, i don't have the time. @Pegleg how are you progressing with your map, i kinda need to know so everything can be completed in a timely manner. As for my reviews for maps i missed out on e.g. MAP07 and MAP14 they'll come when everything on my end is complete. Once everything on my end is done i'll let you all know here, and we can begin a beta of sorts then move onto RC1. Thanks for the support on this Community Project, i have another in mind so when that day comes i'm sure you'll see it. -

I've updated the OG post with the latest playtest. I will be redoing some of my reviews on some maps as i found the latest versions THEN i'll start the compiling process, it'll take a while but i hope during that time Pegleg and Max's maps come through. -

Right i'm going to be working on getting a new playtest file out and start the compiling process. If you want to, go ahead with a remake however if you don't think you'll be able to that's fine. i'm not willing to axe it i'll just add some warning on the release post when the wad is ready for that. something like "MAP31 uses an engine quirk recommended settings for that map: [recommended settings here]" after all it is a secret level and shouldn't impact progression all that much. Main Submissions are closed, if you want to submit anything it'll have to be for MAP33. I recommend playing the other MAP33 entries to get an idea on what to do if you wish to join, they should be in the playtest file in the og post :) -

Having doubts is natural, i certainly have mine about this. This surmounts to a promo of a Facebook group, for an alternative that isn't really needed. and also feels like AI jargon, but that could just be me though. Maybe make it look more interesting, rather than just a search engine for doom wads or serve other purposes rather than just a glorified file hosting site with a review system but then again, idGames Archive and Doomworld downloads already exist and like i said, don't need another alternative. If i wanted to host my wads elsewhere I'd use Mediafire, Google Drive or Dropbox or one of the thousand other file hosting sites on the internet. I'm open to new stuff but to me, it feels... unnecessary. Also "Keep the doom community alive and going"? Bro, look around you man this shit is still kicking 30 years on.
