  1. I don't know how you can say the levels looked boring if you stopped on map 2?!
  2. The fandom wiki has a horrendous UI in general. Not a fan!
  3. Just beat Mostly Harmful(Map32) of Hell Revealed saveless! There is a ton of soulspheres and megaspheres to lessen the difficulty...but I'm happy with that!
  4. I was hearing 'Goin' Down The Fast Way' by Lee Jackson A LOT last year when checking out new doom wads.
  5. As someone who generally likes larger more expansive maps, I can't help but love this megawad. It's truly greater than the sum of its parts(because there are plenty of forgettable/bad levels), and maps like Wormhole, Mt Pain, Storage Facility(Arch Vile jump babyyy!) and Stronghold(hitscanner hell!) show how dynamic and creative it was for its time.
  6. +1 for Ismo's Quest. Technically and graphically impressive with some really cool story-beats, plot twists and progression. It manages to be really wholesome and quite dark at the same time aswell!
  7. Going to echo Steveb1000 here....I'm also a fan of large, open, non-linear maps which are already packed with an army of demonic hordes trying to hunt you down! Memento Mori Map 28: City of the Unavenged and Psychedelic Eyeball's Ramp 2023 map: We Sold Our Souls For This seem to be the only examples I can think of right now.
  8. I'm really happy you linked this guy. I like his style, laid back, funny at times, riffs along with his mate(s), reminds me of the late 2000s early lets-play days. So much content aswell! A real mega project! I can't really think of anyone that hasn't been mentioned yet other than @Nirvana, his interview series was such a valuable asset to the community and it was great hearing from big 90s names like Sandy Petersen, Dario Casali and American McGee, aswell as a host of big doomtubers and contemporary mappers. Nirvana himself's a great interviewer and always asks a good mix of questions, not interrupting the guest etc. I really miss that series. His new WDIGF podcast is cool though.
  9. I used to be HORRENDOUS at dealing with tilt and would do my fair share of raging when losing in far more competitive multiplayer games like CS, WOW(PVP) and......ughhh..HEARTHSTONE. Several broken mice, space key no longer functioning..... it was obviously an issue. But I've got a lot better at managing it in the last couple years(probably mellowed out as I approach the latter half of my 30s....and I don't live by myself anymore ). Dying in Doom just doesn't get my blood boiling like my connection crashing in HS when I'm about to win, or getting ganked in WOW. I think the most salty I get in Doom is if I die unnecessarily(usually involving the rocket launcher), or I die during a level that I really feel I could've one shot.
  10. The 2001 megawad Fragport has orange keys which I thought was kind of neat. I think the classic 3 key formula works well enough though.
  11. Oh wow! Going to have to strongly disagree. Some of Stewboy and JimmyP's finest work is here, but I do get your point that it plays more like a compilation rather than a cohesive set of midis. Out of place? Open to interpretation I suppose, but I just love the variety you get with the soundtrack. It definitely shows how far the Doom midi scene has departed from the Bobby Prince IWAD collection. Different strokes though! I think playing the entire megawad just debunks this to be honest. The 2nd episode is the techbase one, so of course there is a bit of uniformity here in terms of colour scheme, but the other 5 episodes just provide such stark contrasts aesthetically with varying palettes aplenty! I would highly recommend playing the whole megawad! As a whole this is still the best looking set of maps I've played(admittedly I've not played Lost Civ yet!)
