  1. Isn't "Playing as an ARC soldier during "Earth" being invaded" the plot of DOOM II? Even though it was the same DOOM Guy from Phobos, Deimos and Mars, that's still roughly the same. Having Artificially Stupid companions that cannot teamplay isn't worth the risk. Solo action gameplay is the forte of ID Software and solo ARC soldier during Earth's invasion is typically DOOM and DOOM II over again. It could still be done, but I don't think ID would want to go towards that route. Especially after The Dark Ages. Could be wrong though!
  2. Oooooo! That is something I would love to see in a blank canvas alternate universe of sorts. I had my own alternate universe talking place after the end of DOOM II. I hope I can stop being so lazy and continue this idea. Also, those MP armours deserve more love! :} Mine was that demonic prince that had a face on the 4 sides of his helmet. I would specifically give him taunts where head turns would be involved (like the robot dance, if I remember correctly) and it would be hilarious like he was switching his dominating demon x}
  3. Rebounding on this and someone else that was stating that it would be a shame to have a plot telling you what you already know. But I think that playing what you already know will make you feel how the Slayer felt, while needing even fewer plot points to progress. The fact that the non-existent plot would help Slayers blast and find secrets at their own pace whenever, like it's 1993 and 1994 again. Talking about secrets, I wish secret maps could come back. And softlocking you out of some secrets like in 2016 won't be a thing this time.
  4. Apart from the very begihning where the Slayer smashed the plot away (which had me screaming in my seat), the Slayer had to run in circles (when he even could) while the characters, mainly Dr. Hayden, were slowly explaining their useless (to the Slayer at least iirc) renting stuff.
  5. Imagine if we could make contraptions like in the popular Minecraft mod named Create. Like, you put few things that may haven't been thought like this, but you can yeet the Slayer and few imps for silly minigame maps. Like a stupid Fallguys from Hell. FallSlayers! If it's possible, I'm giving you the name credit free x} I feel like a level editor that can more or less easily permit people to go ham with their concepts is cool. Like that FNAF map in SnapMap where the bear was a Hellknight. This map was my very very firsthand experience with the concept of a FNAF game. I got slain so much.
  6. Yes. It was just me ranting non-sense for a full paragraph, don't worry. AH! THE REAL THING I WANTED TO SAY ON TDA!! Will there be a competent level editor? Snapmap was okay-ish (albeit hugely lackluster in flexibility and assets in my opinion) and afaik Eternal didn't have anything?

  9. Hell yeah! DOOM: The Dark Ages! First of, I still have to check how the end of DOOM 2016 and the beginnings of DOOM Eternal make sense, because I've played and finished both campaigns (albeit I didn't play The Ancient Gods expansion, so it may be is told there) I am excited for DOOM: The Dark Ages and I hope I won't be too broke when it will come out or be available on pre-order. I missed on DOOM: Eternal for so long because I loved it so much I finished it in less than a week of span time. Where I pre-ordered DOOM 2016 and finished it only in end of 2022 or start of 2023. Let's say at that time I wasn't as sharp in reflexes as now, I tried the arena arcade mode thing in Nightmare and did fairly well, I had fun. TDA looks more early demonic science-fantasy if that makes sense, a bit like Amuscaria's TC WAD "HellForged" which is my favourite WAD by a mile. And I'm looking forward to it. I personally like the more "technical speed" pace of Eternal over 2016's and maybe it has to do that it has less corridor-y level designs 2016 borrowed slightly from DOOM 3, and more open areas and "bigger arenas" to fight that I loved about DOOM 1993 and DOOM II, even if the more "grounded" designs of DOOM 2016's human bases that reminded me of the first episode of DOOM 1993 that is my favourite design-wise. Anyways, I feel like I'm going everywhere and nowhere (the hyped ~ADHD'd alien strikes again?). So I want to play that game, I love the more dark fantasy, medieval themed demonic tech and I loved Eternal's gameplay about Dances of Massacre. So... As for a potential DOOM Gal, I really want ID Software to show the moffos from the DOOM: Annihilation disaster what they can do with a "female DOOM Guy". Therefore, DOOM Gal shouldn't have recent female characters annoying tropes. And she should be stated she's "the DOOM Gal" and not keep a secret. And she shouldn't even try to replace the Slayer, but complement or support him. I saw an artwork for the DOOM Gal (I think it was just their ultra-buff female OC in the Praetor Armour, but still) and that could be cool. She could portray another path the DOOM Slayer could have taken if he weren't committed as much. Like being corrupted but managing the get her humanity take over her demonic side back? Like, she saw the corpse of Daisy or something and learned later that the DOOM Slayer's still around? I don't know, just a fangirl doing some stupid thought. And that's only if said DOOM Gal would be put in, which I don't think it will. I don't even think it would be that interesting to begin with. Especially given those modern trends. Could be a DLC ? We had HOOFSlayer, so whatever. ... Or it could just be Isabelle. Also, the guitar riff skull weapon video meme is dope. And in, like, less than a day after release xD

  11. Howdy! For reasons that only my friend and I can know, we've decided at the very last few days to head in a complete different direction. Here's the new map. There are not many time left to finish it so it won't be for the NaNoWADMo. That said, what will be done still will be shared. I don't think that it will have a proper monster flow, so I guess I'll just put a random zombieman that triggers the end of the map x} For those who will have something to show at the end of the month, I bid you my most positive energy!   12. @A Handsome Fridge As you can see, it works wonders! I think I'll hide this texture in each map I can finish till the 31st as one of the secrets. That said, is it possible to just have the transparent disc/sphere saying "NaNoWADMo 2022"? I wish I could stapple it on any type of texture without any tech background to fit it in any other texture fitting the level, please? :} That'd be really cool! Cheers!
  13. No worries! My earthling friend Sonia actually likes to take more time to do her stuff. To be fair, We reuse the general level designs of the original DOOM II, so this helps greatly. Sonia got many many years of experience observing the environments in any games (especially FPSes) and she did some game dev and level design all throughout her life as hobbies. From RPG Maker XP to Ultimate DOOM Builder, with some Blender experience, the level editors of the early Tomb Raiders, the one with the first Red Faction and many more sandboxes games like Minecraft (creative), Scrap Mechanic, Starship EVO and so much others. Anyways, I'm not only sending this message to "resumee-dump" x} It's just that before comparing "skill levels", you have to take into account the amount of time put in those sort of exercises. And also we like details a lot. In maps and models. If we can give you a tool or a method that can help you level design is that, nearly always, we start from a detail or a quick idea, then we iterate between steps of putting general shapes, then refining them until satisfaction is reached. It's like "Detail" => "Generral Element" => "Detail" => "General Element" => "Detail", rince and repeat! Also, small update on my MAP30: We added a vision blocker to prevent enemies from noticing the player right away. We also noticed, as seen in the third screenshot just provided, that there's a weird pixel (I guess missing?) on the texture we chose. I guess now we have to change it x} Cheers!
  14. Greetings! :} I started this map a little less than 2 hours for this year's NaNoWADMo. The WAD itself will be a near direct continuation of the events of DOOM II. After the Icon of Sin was destroyed and the DOOMGuy left to fight other demons or so, there's an entity that starts to more and be conscious where the Icon of Sin died. This entity is you. You'll have to fight in Hell and then in the human realm to survive. The demons want to kill the Icon of Sin's Spawn, you, because the huge demon were controlling them and forced them to do as it pleased because of how powerful it was. The human survivors are still fighting the remaining demons roaming on Earth ; Because not everyone could escape when they fleed into space thanks to the DOOMGuy. The Earth maps will be Based on real cities' Google Maps footage with extra twists to make them actual levels. And, later, there will be a fellowship system that I won't disclose too much here because that's far from the scope. That said, my objectives for the NaNoWADMo is to map the Hell episode levels from DOOM II (From Map30 where you start, to Map21 where you will go to Earth), but my real challenge is at most starting 7 of those maps, finishing completely 3 of them and at least have most environment done on the others. It's a big challenge, yes, but there's no requirement to fulfil it. I will already be happy to complete "only" one or even have worked on them regularly all that second half of the month :} Cheers!

Greetings! :} Category 2 (I wanted to play at category 1, but I had to restart the run so much that it would have seemed unfair to pursue cat 1) Hurt Me Plenty Dead on Map04 (I didn't want to restart after that. Less lucky than our previous one, and the mapping felt less satisfying) I didn't think about noting down my time and killcount before leaving, but I checked the number of the map in the Automap.
