Me and my wife's musical project. Also, my first foray into video shooting / editing. Shot on my Canon Rebel T6 / 50mm. Green-screened out the garage for the interior car shots, dash mounted my Pixel for the driving / road shots. -
Little man in his hybrid original/Slayer costume. First time I've really worked with EVA foam. It's a pretty forgiving medium.

I built a tune-able tongue drum / wood xylophone!
This was made from mostly knotty pine with red oak on the trim pieces. The 'fretboard' is a milled down strip of dense teague with aluminum rails running into a 1/8" trench to act as the frets. The keys are adjustable and fretted down with 5/16" machine screws. The inserts are t-nuts mounted in through the bottom of the fretboard. The length is around 11", 8" wide and 7" or so in height.
Keys mounted, also red oak. The keys do not resonate as well as I'd like, but the modular design allows to change materials or have a mix and matched material configuration if I want.

All in all, about $30 in material and a month or so of work off and on. I have to play around with the key material, but the body is acoustically very loud.
This is why I can't get a wad out the door in less than 2 years!

Nah but seriously you can sell full sized ones for easily upwards of $1,000... I bought a marimba in 2008 for $1,000, which was incredibly cheap but then again it's prolly not unlike something you would build... the resonators are cardboard tubes heh, but the thing sounds and plays great. For the cost it was a great buy :)

Junior making his first completeable map at 4 years old (while being rightfully distracted by the Powerpuff Girls). This is actually a few months old now, he's graduated to having skies and variable light levels. He still wants blood floors everywhere, should I be worried?

@DoctorGenesis Pretty sure it's the new one. He doesn't watch too much tv, but I do try to load him up on the classics.
@Fonze Even now we'll be eating breakfast and he'll hit me with the line of questioning about 'what planet the aliens are flying to in Ancient Aliens' or 'what do they keep in all the crates'. Suddenly, you're finding yourself in an IRL "Do Demons Go To The Bathroom?" threads.

Owner of the company I work at passed away. He was pretty old, 86, so it's hard to do anything but look back and celebrate his life.
I would wear my work coat with the company logo on it and on more than a few occasions cashiers would ask how he was doing and that he was such a nice guy. He would go to work like everyone else every day up until a few months ago. Worked his balls off, smart as hell.. he would bring the whole shop to his lodge in Maine once a year and we would drink, eat meat and fish. I would tell my son to look up to the guy, but I'm a grown man and I looked up to him (obviously).
I feel lucky to have gotten to know him and know about him - the best people in the world are people you meet that make you want to be a better person yourself by their example. -
Breathing, Shiny and Moist - Some of my favorite MIDI work I've done recently for Becoming. The end has a pretty unsettling timbre, despite it's Roland SC pallet.

Made this about 5 minutes after unpacking my new Volca Beats by Korg.
The construction is surprisingly sturdy. The knobs are steppy, which is a bit of a let-down considering it's (nearly) full analog machine. The snare leaves something to be desired, but the kick is very versatile. On the fly beat making when paired with the Electribe is incredibly fun. It doesn't satisfy all my drum needs, and I'll no doubt be adding some PCM drum module or routing a channel off of a rompler / work-station to give the drums a bit more texture. All and all, I won't lose any sleep spending $150 on this little unit.- Show previous comments 3 more

The Yamaha TX16-W was my go-to 12 bit sampler for ages. It used 720kb floppy disks and only had 1.5mb total sampling memory.. which translated to a pretty good sized drum kit. I don't think I can realistically feel good about spending 45 minutes booting up an OS disk, loading samples, programming performance parameters for each hit.. all by means of a antiquated storage format.
The Korg ES-1 is looking like a winner. -
Haven't had much time to sit down and do much of anything involving the computer. Managed to record this over the weekend though. The loud 'HSSSSSSSS' isn't cam/PC noise. I modified my Monotron Duo and fabricated a metal / wood constructed case for it. Unfortunately, it's grounding out on the steel enclosure somewhere. On some patch cord configurations, one of the oscillators self modulates all over the place and you can change the pitch of the other by how much of your chosen appendage is touching the frame. I thought about fixing it, but it'd be like destroying one of nature's own mistakes. Once the filter frequency cutoff isn't completely dumped, the hiss drops out.
Also, camera stand gave out right after this was recorded.. The cam tilts progressively upward throughout the entire video XD

18 hours of labor, one c-section and 4 days in the hospital later, I finally can call myself the proud parent of this handsome young man.
It was a very complicated delivery. After we were in the clear, the head nurse informed my sort-of-mother-in-law that my girlfriend and baby were in a pretty dire situation and the c-section was an emergency measure. Ed Jr was facing chin forward with the umbilical cord completely wrapped around him. My girlfriend had an un-diagnosed condition of fluid retention that was putting so much pressure on her insides that the baby was lodged and hadn't budged an inch in 7 hours. His heart rate was decreasing more and more with each contraction, very scary stuff.
I owe quite a bit of gratitude to the nurse staff. They averted what would have been the worst day of my life and ended up making it the best.
I'd say 2-3 years tops and I'll be uploading his first map to /idgames. -
