It being an arms race is one of the big reasons why nothing is being done. Valve has said on at least one occasion that they do not want to run the treadmill with cheat/bot manufacturers/coders to repeatedly wack them in hopes of weeding the numbers.

The whole album from the mastering to the singing just sounds wrong. It is just like someone's high school band project that they recorded songs for in their garage. But no, this is Metallica.

Nope, I did play through all of Tametsi though
-
If you want to challenge yourself with Minesweeper-adjacent gameplay give 'Tametsi' a try! It's only 3 bucks on Steam and it really gets you thinking how to solve some really complex setups, and comes with several forms of gimmicks like hex cells and colored tiles!

I feel like this thread is meant to serve more as confirmation bias for OP rather than to actually intelligently answer the topic at hand. I like Crash 3 water levels. I like Spyro water levels. Hell, even the Water Temple in OoT would be perfectly fine if not for the menuing being painfully slow. The Underwater Frigate is a fine area in Metroid Prime. Torvus Bog in Metroid Prime 2 is neat. This is not to say that all of them are winners either. But I personally find their existence to be more of a positive thing than a negative thing. More of them do something interesting with the addition of slower movement and lower gravity than not, or whatever other gimmick they come up with! The best thing you can do for yourself is to play more games. Maybe you'll eventually find one that does something you like.

Junkfood 3 [MBF21, Slaughter] (idgames)

I'd wipe my ass -
The idgames police will personally come to your doorstep and ask you to surrender your device of play if you were to cheat.
-
It exists much like the other IWADs.

A game being good is a matter of perspective. Games fall into x, where they get compared with games from said x. I would just recommend making a game, any game you'd like, not thinking about such specifics. It will probably not be good, and that's exactly how you will find out what "good" means to you!

is blood actually as good as people think it is?
riktoi replied to roadworx's topic in Everything Else
I think Blood sucks when you first play it. It sucks for a couple hours. But at some point, it clicks. You take the dynamite in hand and throw it. You see explosions. Your dopamine receptors are being overloaded. Cultists keep dropping like flies. You have become John Blood. That said, I like the game. Specific enemies are complete buzzkills (all bosses, ghosts, hands). The level design isn't anything to write home about, but it kept me amused with new locations constantly popping up. Caleb's voicelines are all just movie or book quotes. -
Nuclear bomb good. Kill any creature. However, no meat. Bad for survival.

give me a good reason as to why the pain elemental is a "bad" enemy
riktoi replied to roadworx's topic in Doom General
Frankly my only issue with Pain Elementals is how stupid Lost Souls are. Unlike Cacodemons and other flying enemies, once they get pushed and are unable to collide with a wall they'll just drift out into the nothingness, unable to do anything of value. At the very least Cacodemons can still fire at you. -
Doom is at its best when amalgamated and stretched beyond its original ideas. Embrace pacifism, embrace new and strange concepts! As much as I want to shoot demons sometimes, I am most excited when something like ARCHIE, or the more recent BARBARA AND REGGIE'S CASTLE MASSACRE comes out. These wads may not offer you much in terms of what is traditionally Doom, but what they do offer is a better glimpse into the creators' minds and what dark secrets lie within. Jeez, people can like a thing even if it has flaws. Big flaws, even. You should consider that this is not "your doom", has not been for 30 years. Many people understandably get upset when their favorite thing gets made into something different, but it is only natural for franchises as old as this. You've got a whole new team with different ideas, sensibilities and experience. I think Eternal is perhaps the strongest showing of those talents (at least in the AAA space) of what a FPS game really can be, while still donning much of what could be thought of as "Doom".
