  1. I’ve played through this wad a few times now - I’ve mentioned in this thread too that there’s heavy inspiration from House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski and the first page from the book keeps replaying in my head:
  2. I’m not sure what I expected, but fair enough lol.
  3. Can I ask who reached out about your involvement?
  4. Felt mega unease reading that readme.txt Also, I adore all the nods to House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski -- in the book, anytime the 'house' of House of Leaves is mentioned, there's some kind of format screw: house written in red, a letter in 'house' being just a little higher than the others, etc.
  5. Growing up, I had a relative who was a computer hobbyist that collected computers and parts. He had this laptop that basically looked EXACTLY like this: And playing Doom on this thing was a trip - because the sound was definitely NOT what we know today. It was that really old bit-crushed sound type that sounded more like Commander Keen than anything from a sound blaster card. So I've been trying to find a way to replicate that sound experience on modern doom but its been kind of a goose chase. Does anyone remember the real low-end sound Doom had?
  6. I think when it's a noteworthy example of clever reverse engineering like running Doom on a pregnancy test; that makes me giggle like a little kid. Doom on a TI-83? Cool, but wouldn't consider it groundbreaking.
  7. Also wanted to make special note of the attention to the soundtrack. The original Doom episode one OST is tattooed in my brain and hearing it evokes a lot of nostalgia - but the reinterpretation of the songs adds so much depth. It’s less “of its time” hard rock/grunge (which again, I still enjoy), but here it’s like hearing Doom music if it had been arranged by Nobou Uematsu, Michiru Yamane, or even John Carpenter on some levels. Outstanding work, just outstanding.
  8. Can I just say that this image: Referencing this old-ass Sears commercial is just ... *Chef's kiss*. Unlocked a memory lost from head trauma and substance abuse.
  9. it's easy to rag on Fortnite, but if you had told 10-year old me that there was a free game where I could see Doomguy headshot the T-1000 then do a silly dance with Venom - I'd have been all over it. The jaded adult in me wants to call this nothing more than a marketing deal - but who knows? Maybe some Fortnite player out there will get into Doom because of it.
  10. Hey everyone. I'm trying to get into mapping on Slade since all I can use right now is my steam deck (with a keyboard and mouse of course). But is there a cheat sheet out there with things to reference? I mean like, something to reference with like... how tall/wide certain doors are, keyboard shortcuts, etc.
