  1. I forgot I even started this topic! Neat little revive, I suppose. 9 months later, and now I think that instruments 83, 108 and especially 97 are awesome. Those are synth lead 3 (calliope), koto, and synth effect 1 (rain) respectively. I've also become a little prone to instrument 8 (clavichord) myself. Very nice sounds at a low octave.
  2. Very solid mapset from the first map to the last! The storytelling throughout the course of the maps is quite engaging. Two things stuck out to me in particular: the detailing and gameplay. Your sector decoration and macro architecture abilities are strong. From the small, broken down brick mud huts strewn over the mountain's exterior in MAP01 and MAP04 to the supermassive skeletons and eternally watching shark demon that is everpresent in MAP03, All of the maps are a treat to look at, and MAP01 leaves an excellent first impression! The doomcute is also very welcome, especially the marketplace in MAP04. That entire map was adorable. The gameplay is good, clean fun! The difficulty curve is smooth, there's enough health to get by, though the ammo placement is very tight on MAP02 and MAP03. I played on UV and I ran out of ammo a few times, but with some skillful dodging I managed to scrounge up ammo from other rooms without getting a fistful of demon projectiles, so no complaints there! MAP02 was especially fun with the small trials in parkour, the task of defusing that one particularly chaotic fight with the Cyberdemon, and the test of working with that lift. Though, my favorite map has to be MAP03. I love the dim lighting of the underground buildings, the dark cavern filled with monsters and concerningly large skeletal remnants, and that huge, toothy demon shark-god-evil spirit. I only got a little confused when I was finding the yellow key, but the rest of the map goes along smoothly. The use of the Icon of Sin is tasteful in my opinion : ). All in all the gimmicks are neat and your persistent Pain Elemental usage throughout is evil indeed! Overall, I love it! Atmospheric, short, but very sweet. I look forward to seeing what you'll make next, Quacken.
  3. When making a map, - Do you usually consider music selection an afterthought? - Do you usually add a MIDI track before, during, or after development? - If you do add a MIDI track during or before development, does the choice of MIDI influence your mapping in any way? - Do you usually constantly swap tracks and see what works for the map and what does not? - If you know how to arrange MIDIs, would you rather compose an original track for a map or select an already existing track?
  4. The Hell Knight. When it comes to Doom 1, there's no choice for a slow glass cannon. Barons are way too tanky, and Cacodemons, while not as tanky, don't have projectiles as hard-hitting as noble hellfire. Not to mention they can fly, which can be undesirable for some encounters. The Hell Knight is not too tanky, has a powerful projectile, and is slow, perfect for Doom 1's style of gameplay. Everything else feels too fast or makes combat too frenetic for Doom 1, considering the lack of SSG.
  5. "I think, therefore I mod." -- René Doomscartes, probably Serious answer, because modding is a fun creative outlet that allows you to change your favorite game without the trouble of making a game. You have the engine, figure out the rest yourself, dummy. Bonus points if the game was meant to be broken apart, teared down and modified.
  6. Now add the "You're not perfect." creature in Doom.
  7. "Future Inspired Flavor" Uses AI technology from the present, turning into AI technology from the past with every passing second I hate false advertising so damn much. Coca Cola has fallen.
  8. Difficulty, Now with 25% more microplastics and pesticide!
  9. If the license allows the borrowing of assets, credit them in your text file and have fun. That's the rule of thumb for most assets. Just be careful, sometimes some creators don't credit where they got some assets, so you could end up taking an asset that turns out wasn't even allowed to be used.
  10. So I'm not the only one! Frozen chocolate is delightful, it's harder to chew, meaning it lasts longer, meaning you get to taste and savor it for longer, and it doesn't instantly melt when left out for 1 minute. Though, I only freeze chocolates on the darker/cocoa-heavy side. White chocolate doesn't need to be frozen.
  11. Frozen. Frozen chocolate. I don't care how sweet it is. I don't care how milky or chocolate-y it is. If it's frozen with frost around it's edges then I am happy.
  12. The real Boomer Shooter is the friends we made along the way. Made for boomers, by boomers... with boomers.
  13. As the above have stated, We're not talking shit or trying to take away your happiness, but perhaps step back a bit. Considering how you both only took 1 week to decide that you're going to meet up, then you're most likely putting yourself in a very dangerous situation. And even if it's safe, Infatuation/love at first sight is not an ideal basis for a relationship. Please take a step back, make sure both of you are in it for the long run, and put your safety above all else.
  14. That instrument is really quiet for some reason. You did use it to good effect in "Run 'em, Gun 'em, Kill 'em", though. That's the only MIDI I know of that uses it :P Most instruments after 80 are slept on (with the exception of Brightness and the Gunshot). I wanna see some more Charang usage, dammit!
