For me, I do not give a shit, I believe Final Doom is a trilogy and Perdition's Gate is part of that. :-P

Perdition's Gate is one of the best things from the '90s in my opinion.

- For GZDoom exclusives - only ZMAPINFO - For Eternity Engine exclusives - only EMAPINFO - For very old ZDoom ports, like ZDaemon - only Mapinfo (old mapinfo in zdoom wiki, or focus on Hexen format, in general it seems to be the same almost). - For vanilla, limit-removing, boom, mbf21 - the best solution is to include UMAPINFO, ZMAPINFO, EMAPINFO and Old MAPINFO all at once. This way you will cover the maximum number of possible ports on which your wad will run. Also, if you do not use special features, without which the map will not be passable (such as boss special action), you can still complement it with vanilla methods (level names with pictures, classic names of midis and all that) Also if you aim for an official release in Unity port, you need DMAPINFO, otherwise you can forget about it. There is also RMAPINFO, but today it is absolutely useless, because it is its own old format in Doom Retro, and it was replaced by UMAPINFO a long time ago. Also Doomsday had its own MAPINFO (DED) (and a few other ports), but today these are very rarely used deprecated ports, so you can include it in your wad at your discretion.

What’s a theme / setting you’d like to see in PWADs?
DRON12261 replied to EduardoAndFriends's topic in Doom General
Any setting that is interestingly presented by the mapper and plays well. Even at first sight ordinary tech-bases and hell can be shown from completely unusual and unfamiliar sides. -
Thanks, PLAYPAL and COLORMAP I took from NoSp2.wad I made the texturepack myself from Perdition's Gate and Hell To Pay resources, resolving all conflicts and overlaps with stock resources, plus breaking everything into separate textures and using ANIMATED and SWITHCES. Saw on Realm667 texturepack, but it is unfortunately only for ZDoom, so I decided to do it all myself. If anyone is interested, you can download: Google Drive There may well be some joints here that I may have missed. Maybe later I will more openly publish it together with the finished map.

Moonlit District | Now on idgames!
DRON12261 replied to Egg Boy's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Nice wad. Passed now in one breath on No Saves UV-Max. I like the aesthetics of Perdition's Gate technobases. And great arenas. -
I'm surprised no one mentioned one of the most accurate and well designed mod - Dusted's Pandemonia

Eternal Doom 3. Will be played through to adulthood. If they pass Bob Evans' MAP30 themselves, you can tell they'll be ready to enter a new era of their lives.

Modding and mapping (not just for Doom) helped me get out of a lingering depressive pit a long time ago. This generally applies to any activity that you really start having a flame for. I love what I do, I love the process, and I love seeing the result in the community when someone plays it. I wouldn't be doing it otherwise. And even more, I love watching people who are also glowing with their activities, no matter whatever it is.

Well, there is a high probability that this event will be continued in the future, as the participants were satisfied with it and show a desire to do more. And I hope you like these maps (I'm still baffled that we have SPEEDMAP for STRIFE, has anyone ever mapped for strife?). All participants will be interested to read feedback on their maps, so feel free to write both positive feedback and criticism.

What is this? This is a big compilation of totally different maps made in a limited time. The idea came about in a crazy spontaneous way, first I pushed @MAN_WITH_GUN to make a map on Discord for his birthday (happy birthday again). Further I was inspired by this idea and decided to try to speedmapping for the first Doom and funnily enough separately from us at this time speedmapping decided to try GranitMaster. Next when Man With A Gun played my map in voice chat he again wanted to speedmap for the first Doom. After seeing this funny sequence of "speedmapping incidents" we decided to take this "relay race" to the masses by organizing a modest event in our local community. And here is the result you see now, 18 completely different maps in 9 days! In this compilation you will see: Classic E1 maps; Over-detailed levels (mapper, touch the grass); Shovelware from the 90s; Cyberpunk 1993; Slotter version of Dead Simple for... HEXEN; Ice Dancing with a Cyberdemon; Some another bit of gothic; and much more... The conditions of the event were as free and simple as possible - the only limitation that participants had was time. The idea of the event was that someone just started to do something and most importantly immediately bring it to completion (partially analogous to NaNoWADMo). A quick summary of the rules: The participant chooses his own time for which he should make a map, but no more than 10 hours. The participant is free to make a map in any format, for any target ports and for any game on the Doom engine. The map is the priority, not the timer! Generating ideas, selecting music, textures, and other resources are not counted in the timer. Only the mapping process itself counts. Similarly, fixes and balance adjustments are allowed after the map has been made (but only small ones). Authors are free to do whatever they want with their maps afterwards, to refine them, to remake them, to release them separately. Their work is not rigidly tied to the project, in this package stored just speedmaps, which later in the hands of their authors may well serve as a foundation for something more ambitious. The most interesting part - the list of works. I have categorized all the maps by authors. @MAN_WITH_GUN: Screaming Void [3 hours, Limit-Removing, Doom 2] Conquered Complex [3 hours, Limit-Removing, Doom] @DRON12261: Lair Under Base [3 hours, Limit-Removing, Doom] Madness in the depths [10 hours, Boom, Doom 2] Light! Camera! BOOM! [6 hours, Boom, Doom 2] @Doom Wads: Colonoscopy [4 hours, Boom, Doom 2] Backpropagation [10 hours, Boom, Doom] @GranitMaster: Pit? [1 hour, GZDoom UDMF, Doom 2] Zima Polnyi Vstupit [1.5 hours, GZDoom UDMF, Doom 2] Corvus Mission [2 hours, GZDoom UDMF, Heretic] Betrayer? [2.5 hours, GZDoom UDMF, Hexen] SteelCorp Experiment [2.5 hours, GZDoom UDMF, Strife] @Nikolanchik: Lazylanchik [1 hour, Boom, Doom 2] @Volter/Voltage: Poh [4 hours, Boom, Doom 2] @Track Federal: Flood [3 hours, Boom, Doom 2] George Nash: Grand Archive of Lost Wisdom [2 hours, GZDoom UDMF, Hexen] @Winnkar: Silver Mission [10 hours, Boom, Doom 2] @Vanilla+Unicorn: Fever of 1995! [8 hours, Boom, Doom] Google Drive All list of our projects: - Russian Random Speedmap Pack #1 (18 maps) - Russian Random Speedmap Pack #2 (23 maps) - Gift for DRON12261 (18 maps MBF21 megawad) - Russian Random Speedmap Pack #3 (Coming soon, We're in rapid development (¬‿¬ ) )

SLADE is corrupting the preview display, what's going on?
DRON12261 replied to Lila Feuer's topic in Doom Editing
There was a similar topic: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?t=70129 https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?p=1165738#p1165738 I have roughly the same thing happening on my laptop, and unlike the example above, I unfortunately have not been able to solve the problem for the laptop. As far as I remember I have an integrated intel uhd graphics 650 (or another 600 series). All drivers I could find didn't solve the problem, I just can't work with SLADE on my laptop. -

Looking to recruit mappers to our team.
DRON12261 replied to volleyvalley's topic in WAD Releases & Development
If you're recruiting people, you need give some information about why they're going there, what they're even going to do and what they're going to be working on. A "Black Box" is not very attractive in this respect. Try to present your project in some minimal way, so that it is clear what it is and why. Even if it's not a public community project. Since you are openly recruiting people, it makes no sense to withhold information completely. It is worth highlighting the "minimum" that can give some insight into your work. -
What doom map deserved to be in top 100 most memorable maps?
DRON12261 replied to Betelgeuse's topic in Doom General
BTSX Episode 3 Demo - MAP04 "A Visit to the Creep Doctor" by Xaser For me there are very few memorable maps in BTSX itself, they're too repetitive and stretched all over the megawads. But specifically this map right here was a shocker for me when I decided to try the demo of the new episode. And I think it must go into some sort of top of the best/most memorable/unusual maps afterwards. I will remember it for a long time, just like I once did Misri Halek from Alien Vendetta. And I hope that the third episode itself will be more varied and less drawn out than past episodes. -
5 small mean maps
DRON12261 replied to IThrowDonkeysIntoTornadoes's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Good maps. Visual design is not a masterpiece, but gameplay turned out to be very exciting and challenging. But I'd like to mention MAP05 - it's really one of the most unique maps I've ever seen. This is the real map with puzzle fighting, which many people talk about, but which nobody has ever done (not counting Cyberdreams). It really managed to surprise and hook you at the end.
