Not A Lawyer, But: Bail typically isn't posted for violent crimes like assault or murder, as I understand it--despite what some politicians are claiming bail reform would do. Because of what Laz was accused of, he would have been treated as extremely dangerous (and probably also a flight risk), so he wouldn't be allowed out on bail.
