omfg i am so sorry for even making this post turns out i had a second colormap in my wad that was a PNG, and it somehow had higher priority than the actual colormap idk :[

I added a custom colormap to my wad, and now everything looks like this. The colormap is in the proper colormap format. Also, this effect was still present after i removed the colormap lump. What could be causing this ??? this is what the colormap looks like: i've also tried this before with a different colormap, and it looked right so idk why it looks like this now :P

i tried it without adding them to patches, still got the same result

Whenever i try to convert an image file to a flat, it changes to an "unknown" file, i tried converting PNG, BMP, and JPG, and got the same result with all of them. The image i am trying to convert is 64x64 as all flats should be, i also made shure to add it to TEXTURE1 and PNAMES1.

the list of instruments that can be used by a channel doesn't include any drumsets, where can i find them?
