what are you working on? I wanna see your wads.

Felt like giving Eraser a completely different aesthetic for one optional area. Still rather early, but I like the look of it so...here.- 9895 replies

Thanks, and yeah, checks out. :P I love brutalism and how well it matches the abstact feel I find myself drawn towards when mapping less common themes. -

Got back to mapping Eraser in full today. Spent a good while figuring out how to do light sequences in Boom, which is easier than I thought, actually.- 9895 replies

It's a much better destiny than lying around my HD and gathering dust, that much is certain. :P I think the monster count is actually pretty good as it is, I'd just make those revs and other monsters that are released in the central Southern building not set to ambush - they can't reliably wake up by sight alone, given there's at least three ways to access the Southern building. They're the ones circled in red.

Beat it on my second try with some saves and I can vouch for it being moved to the second half of the WAD! None of the fights here take long to finish nor are they too hard or tricky on UV, but it is a longer map on account of how many monsters you fight - took me a little over 20 minutes to clear it when going for all kills. The only piece of criticism I have is that sometimes, ammo is a teensy bit tight. I had no problem since there's an early berserk and it's pretty easy to make everything infight at multiple points in the map, but a few extra shells and cells in easy to spot places would certainly be welcome. I think your additions only made the map better, by the way! I particularly like the cave-looking area with the locked archvile, but just about everything here fits and looks amazing. Good job there too, it was fun seeing how you made the map work. :)

Looks good, commenting so I remember to play it later!

So I completely forgot I was in this project...well, sadly I'm stepping out. Just haven't had any good ideas for making my map work and I'm not super thrilled by the idea of making a real-ish location as of late. Best of luck to everyone else, though! I'll be sure to keep an eye on what comes from this.

This came out of nowhere as far as I can tell, and I knew I had to play it after finishing E1M2! Fantastic work on the visuals and combat alike, but the music is really out there and I would like to hear it outside the game! I recorded a video of E1 (minus the secret map, assuming there even is one) to get word about this project out there, it's a lot of fun. :)

Ash VS Doom (Evil Dead WeaponSet/TC)
Matt Eldrydge replied to HollowedRat93's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Just wanted to drop by and say I've had some fun playing your mod after you messaged me about it, good work all around! I'll share some feedback on it soon, but for now here's a video showing it off. :) -
Agreed! Thomas also has TV1998, which is a pinch meaner than Revolution and doesn't seem to be brought up whenever his work is mentioned. Adding to the Russian suggestions, I think Kuchitsu is a great little episode but just about anything Memfis made is worth a look for newbies. I do wish his catalogue was more small episodes than scattered map 01s for WADs that never were. :P

I think Machete is worth a recommend for that sort of player, provided they want the game to switch from safe fun to more of a "challenge me!" kind of fun - or have heard of Scythe and like the idea, but don't want to deal with Fire and Ice (or worse). The first episode teaches you some core techniques (berserk usage, managing sightlines, partial invisibility usage, monster prioritization, etc) while giving you short, fun maps between "lessons" with a final exam kind of map at the end of the episode. It also has some low impact-ish slaughter-y encounters too, which will teach some skills other WADs might expect you to have. I don't think anyone who's fresh off Doom 2 can beat Scythe 1 or 2, but in Machete? I personally think they stand a fair chance, as the difficulty's acceleration is much gentler and by the end, it's not as brutal as either. The secret-hiding doesn't seem too far from vanilla either, at least in earlier episodes. Now if you just want something nice and easy but fun, Revolution! is a perfect fit. It's not hard at all and the maps are made to be blazed through, but it does dabble in oldschool doomcute. Make sure you get the MIDI pack too.

Recently got back into Utsu-P and God Gacha slaps so hard it should be a crime.
