in non-doom related news I've started playing what remains of edith finch. I went in expecting a walking simulator with a quality story and got waaaay more than that. it still ultimately boils down to a challenge-less experience but BOY HOWDY is it a well crafted experience.

making my way through TNT on hurt me plenty now, I just re-finished map 06 and man, this map is really a great example of how not to use switches. I don't think there's a single one where you actually see what it does. the most it gives you in terms of hints is the colored lightbars around doors, but that's way too subtle for a first time player... heck, it might even be too subtle for a third time player!
