How would you describe your mapping philosophy?

I feel my maps tend to be rather linear, I also tend to preffer some level of realism, I am not used to mapping open areas, most of the stuff I feel comfortable doing is room-to-room action I guess, I am not that sure how to handle combat either sometimes tbh, I also try to make them pistol-start-able, and if I add secrets I MUST be able to beat it WITHOUT having to get those secrets, I also tend to hide secrets from the automap and if they have a "door", make it appear as 1 sided in it. -
I like them BECAUSE of their usage in dark areas 😈

The Caco's blue blood is unrelated to the skulltag stuff, it's moreso done due to the colored blood options in ports like Crispy Doom, Woof and Nugget Doom. The "blue cyan" grays, that screws over every other asset that uses grays instead of blues, from monsters to wall textures, not to mention the pistol would be blue too, I feel it's a better thing to sacrifice those colors in favor of everything else looking good enough including some pwads' own wall texture assets. As for the sizes, I kinda just bulk resized a lot of the sprites, I sadly don't have the patience to go through every D64 sprite both official and custom that I've used and scale them to vanilla Doom's manually...- 20 replies

The old house I grew up in was allegedly haunted, a man who was sneaking around the area back when it was being built got shot nearby and his body was placed on the terrain that later became that house (temporaly, I assume), since I was a kid back when I lived there I would hear stories of apparitions and the such, from people seeing a small ghostly child, shadows moving, and other phenomenon, one story I remember that my sister told me was one time she felt her hair pulled by a painting we have in our house (a painting of the Salome my grandfather recreated years back), I also have a vague memory that I always assumed was just a dream where I, as a little kid, was playing with my toys, and an orb of light would fly near me towards my shoulder, odd thing is I also remember it from the orb's PoV (that's why I assume this one is a dream) Somewhere near my old house and my cousin's current home there is also this apartment complex where supossedly a murder took place, tho I was also told that the murder took place on another apartment and what this allegedly haunted appartment had was a drug addict problem, thing is, the specific floor whatever event took place in is now abandoned, it also has some rather odd paintings ON THE WALLS including a creepy monocrome clown with dark eyeshadows, when my cousin told me about that place some years ago as I was visiting him, I went with him outside that place (during daytime, ofcourse), perhaps it was my at the time sleep deprivation, but I couldn't help but feel something... BAD when I walked right in front of that building, seeing the insides through it's always open windows, specially when I first saw that clown painting in that wall...

a small, hopefully compatible with most sourceports D64 graphics pack inspired by DBP64 - The Vast Silence. includes full and lite versions, full changes textures, music, as well as the wolfss, bossbrain, keen doll and MBFDog. lite lacks these features, as it's intended to be loaded with mapsets that have way more custom resources or clashing artstyles. both full and lite include support for the ancient sourceport Skulltag, specifically for it's monsters, weapons, most powerups and props. this also comes with two addons: EvilMarine4SS, which replaces the WolfSS sprites with Footman's old zombie marine, and his sounds with Quake 1's enforcer. MeatballCacos, which replaces the D64 Cacodemon design with a 64-styled version of the classic Doom Caco (armless, spiked) using Thief666's HD sprites as a base. !! does NOT come with custom maps, this is a graphics/sounds ONLY wad !! I've tested this with Nugget Doom, Woof! and Zandronum, I've been told it works with Crispy too, hope it works with as many ports as possible. In my completely unbiased opinion as a contributor AND an addon maker for Obsidian It's just for when u wanna shoot stuff pew pew without thinking about overly-complex level design (plus goes very well with random weapons/enemies mods)

Not quite a Megawad concept but an idea for a IoS bossfight I had in mind for a while... when I tried to make a showcase to how it could work it ended up being annoying tho, maybe someone else can take a spin on it and make it work properly? General idea is a fight against 4 "Icon of Sins" themed around the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, where you have to destroy the keens in order to open up the Romero head that you can destroy (was thinking it would have to be replaced graphically, same with the IoS faces) -
Amuscaria's Hellforged has some nice shark imps, shark pinkies and floating shark cacos. Also, I myself did an edit of the Hellforged Cyberdemon/Duke of Hell to mix him with the deep one, it's in my old ZDoom thread (really need to move that thread to this forum instead lol) I know that Batandy's Simon's Destiny has a Castlevania Fishman edit of the Realm667 Hellion too IIRC, tho you'd need to ask for permission to use that one first (unlike Amuscaria and I's resources, that one is from a full mod, so...) And yeah, the Gill Beast from Blood may be useful too. also this reminds me of an idea I had long ago of a deep sea themed Doom mod, with oxygen as a system replacing armor

rewatched that trailer, the only weapons there are a chaingun and rocketlauncher, not much to adapt sadly... EDIT: anoda one, this time the D!Zone teslagun/lightninggun (atleast that's what it looks like to me lol)
