Pillar Saints (Boom + UMAPINFO single map)

Great map with some well thought out and unique encounters. Compliments your previous similarly Archvile infatuated map very well. -
[RC3] 1K1K - A COMPACT Community Project for Doom 2
FletcherHonoroma replied to Yop's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I do, and I thought I had fixed it before I sent the version off lol Essentially that sector is used to propagate sound throughout the map. It's also joined to another sector where the a step rises to release revenants and archviles (when the stairs rise like you said), it also makes the sectors adjacent rise causing that problem. I flipped a linedef around and it's fixed. I'll send Yop the fixed version later tonight. Apologies for overlooking that and another thing which luckily I think nobody has caught yet. -
What is the most painful experience you’ve had playing Doom?
FletcherHonoroma replied to Logamuffin's topic in Doom General
The one time that I tried playing Doom whilst driving. I don't recommend it. -
Do you care about unrealistic/inaccurate guns?
FletcherHonoroma replied to Artman2004's topic in Everything Else
Nothing worse than an inaccurate gun. Can never hit my target. -
I've lost everything because of Doom. My job, my wife, my house - all gone.

@NiGHTS108 is quite right. Truthfully, this ought to have been open submission from the beginning, and then whittled down (or not) to the 32 most deserving and suitable candidates. With a cap of 32, people are bound to: drop out, not produce something up to snuff, or be ineligible for the wad. I don't doubt that if any of those things happened there'd be any trouble filling those empty slots, but it could be avoided by simply having an open submission. Obviously, trimming the submissions into a shapely 32 is a long and thankless task, but with the help of playtesters it's made a little bit easier.

@MFG38 Irrespective of their quality - you've a sizeable amount of levels to your name as well a good degree of notability within the community. The point which @dobu gabu maru makes is that the Nova format ought to be a platform for completely beginner mappers to make a name for themselves and be noticed when they otherwise might not have the chance. It is, after all, suggested in the very name of the wad, and although the Nova series indeed has a history of mappers who do no fit that bill appearing, the overall point dobu gobu maru is making is valid.

1k1k - A COMPACT Doom 2 Community Project [RELEASED]
FletcherHonoroma replied to Yop's topic in WAD Releases & Development
@Max-ko-khan Nice looking map! You need to elevate the ceiling (so the height between the floor and ceiling is at least 56 units) on the platform which the Archvile descends otherwise it will not lower on complevel 2. -

Apologies for the delay in getting this finished. Difficulty levels have been implemented. Custom textures: some Frankensteined textures. Music: no new music. Edit: Quick update, just wanted the Hungry Caterpillar's eyes to close after it had been defeated. 1k1k_map06v4_3.zip -

FletcherHonoroma replied to Yop's topic in WAD Releases & Development
My apologies on the delay, personal matters have unfortunately left me with less time than I'd ideally like to put towards mapping. Realistically, I can expect to send a finished version of my map06 in a week. I thought it'd be funny if it looked The Very Hungry Caterpillar, a process which is taking a little longer than I thought. -
Game that everybody likes but you dislike
FletcherHonoroma replied to Ralseiwithagun's topic in Everything Else
I was shaking so much that I registered on the Richter scale. I definitely get what you mean. Although I enjoyed it, I haven't gone back to play it once. Calling it the weakest mainline game you've played and then giving it a 7/10 is certainly praising with damnation, however, I suspect you never played Super Mario 3d World. It's by no means terrible, but that doesn't mean it's good. I reckon the disappointment of Super Mario 3d World was why Odyssey was so positively received. Odyssey is what people had wanted from 3d world. -

Weren't you crying when Mario jumped on King Koopa's head and anime music started playing? It was so emotional. I enjoyed the game plenty, but I agree that the tight gameplay associated with a Super Mario game was missing. Some worlds were dull and very brief, but there was also some really unique worlds too, I felt. -
[MBF21 Single Map] Postmodern Vile Placement
FletcherHonoroma replied to Gothic Box's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Postmodern indeed. A creative repurposing of a first map with a wealth of equally creative encounters. I do not know how faithful this is to your original, but I found the stark boxy silhouette of the map to be more striking and interesting to play than if it had been overly designed. The map overall is well paced: between the shoebox fights that feature minimal monsters are larger and larger fights which help to ramp up the excitement as well as the difficulty. The slaughter-like fight before the Cyberdemon showdown, where the map becomes inundated with monsters was good fun, however, I found it could be trivialised by circle-strafing the map. I'd wonder if there was any way to prevent that perhaps. Beyond that, I did find the warm welcome by the Archvile hotbox a little too hot for my liking, but that's a matter of personal taste. Otherwise, I found all the other fights to be exciting and inventive, in particular that Archvile and Cacodemon pairing outside the box. Really good map!
