    Emu screen grab with a bit of clean-up work in photoshop. Makes for a nice desktop background, I figured maybe someone else would like it:D Click image for 1024x768 version. There's also 1600x1200 version available, but I haven't uploaded that one.

      Played through the DS version recently. Amazingly, considering it only does point sampling on the textures, I think the DS version comes out looking better.

      The 3do was an asshat system, it just wasnt powerful enough for doom. Thinking about it, that reviewer is an asshat too, as Killing Time ran at a measly 10 fps in non-crowded corridors.

      Somebody made fake cover art/screen shots of Doom for the Atari 2600 and sent it into EGM. It had EGM baffled, and ID a little weirded out with the whole copywright thing, but then they came to the conclusion that it would be impossible for a machine so primitive to deal with those sorts of algorithms. It was in an old issue.. I think I still have it in a closet somewhere.

    I made some volumetric clouds in Houdini today, looks pretty realistic (I think). The second one kinda looks like one of the Doom skies.





    And unrelated to that I made this desktop background. It's a bit pixelated because I scaled it up from a lower resolution render, but oh well...

      Go for it:) you might wanna wait til i upload the color version, its not so high-contrast and you have more flexibility for editing it.

    I doubt anyone here gives a poop, but I've made a small movie capture of my irix desktop, just to kinda show what the window manager on irix looks like. Here's a small screenshot...

    The movie is in .mov format since that's the only common format I could capture to on the machine. It uses jpeg compression I think, but the quality settings make it look lossless and the file size is big so I had to rar it (and then zip it so geoshitties would accept it). It's 800x600, 26sec long, and 13MB uncompressed. Compressed it's only 715kb. Anyways, if you wanna looksee...

      I bought an Octane, they are very cheap now actually. If you look on ebay, low end Octanes go for less than $200.
