The ad would probably have been totally forgotten by now if Daikatana had been awesome.

If you could add one single demon to Doom, what would it be?
Stupid Bunny replied to Pompeji's topic in Doom General
Kinda like this shit I made like 12 years ago -
“Lol probably just nerds or goths or goth nerds or something,” he chuckled to himself. But as he walked on into the park, he realized that this path was not the same as it had been the hundreds of other times he’d come into the park...and that the park seemed to be growing bigger and deeper and more primal the farther he went into it.

How did The Sky May Be make a zombieman turn into a pinky after it dies.
Stupid Bunny replied to ZeMystic's question in Editing Questions
Oh man yeah that totally makes sense. So like the weird minelaying plasma rifle is probably actually just doing the Pain Elemental death lost soul spawn thing, and the mines or whatever are lost souls. Damn. There's potential in that kind of dehackery... -

He's a Titoist Actually I would pay big $$$ for a game where you play as Tito going to kill Stalin for trying to assassinate you so many times, and then probably score with Stalin's wife or something Just imagine this face in the HUD the entire game -

I think Doug the Eagle was just some kind of insane genius, there's a lot of tricks in The Sky May Be that I simply can't explain through regular ol' DeHacked. But if somebody else here has a better answer I'll be watching the thread eagerly for it ;3 -
I'm gonna vote for Wendy O. since she's probably named after this chick

Windows 3.11 for Workgroups over MS-DOS v6.22 I’ve had a lot of fun with Arch Linux, although the last time I had like 6 different desktop environments and WMs to choose from each with its own display settings and with the DPI scaling and everything it broke way too easily. My current setup is on a pretty speedy computer so I just use either KDE Palsma or i3 depending on what I’m doing (I love tiling WMs.) The computer dual-boots that and Win10...between the two I’m pretty set. Although my enduring dream is to install Terry Davis’ TempleOS on bare metal someday, but it seems like there’s not many computers in practice that will do that :.(

I've spent a lot of time in the former USSR/Yugoslavia going out of my way looking for cool brutalist and socialist-modernist architecture, so yes I'd maybe be down for this. I have lots of nice concretey photos to contribute too lol.

Improvements you would make to commercial Doom maps
Stupid Bunny replied to Sotenga's topic in Doom General
Plus finding a key before the door makes the key kind of redundant anyway, at least potentially. To make an extreme example, if I put a yellow keycard right in front of the player in the starting room then all the yellow doors in the map might as well have been regular doors. Or like if you have one yellow door in a map and the yellow key is like 4 feet away from it. -
I knew a fellow who had a pet ball python. He also had many pet mice over the years, just none of them lasted very long...

What is your most hated demon in Doom?
Stupid Bunny replied to doom_marine666's topic in Doom General
That’s exactly my point: they’re too easy to fight in such a situation. You can throw 5 or 10 or 1000 Barons into a big open arena and there will be no challenge in killing them, because all you have to do is orbit them forever shooting inwards until they’re all ground down. I have seen maps do this, and it is never difficult, but always super duper boring, tedious and redundant. -
This comes up often enough that I don't have a lot new to say here, but yeah I make no secret of liking The Chasm. No, it's not like my most favoritest map or anything, but it had an atmosphere that made it especially memorable for me the first time I played Doom II. I'd definitely put it in my upper quartile of favorite Doom II maps (which partly speaks to the fact that I honestly find most of Doom II kind of runs together or is, you know, Nirvana.) Why do people hate it? Well the room at the end with the narrow ledges and lost souls and inescapable death pits everywhere is pure evil, and not in a cool or fun way. I don't know why Sandy thought that was a good idea, it's indefensibly bad especially for the end of the map. I'm willing to forgive it for the special feeling the rest of the map gives me, but I sympathize with people who don't feel that way.

Impse with the 3D model will be interesting Anyway imp asses aside I'm glad to see you're finally getting to the demons. I always pictured the imps having no noses but they look decidedly dopey that way so I can see why you went the way you did. I love the tongue thing in the animation, lot of impy personality in this fella. Hope someone finds a way to make these models compatible with at least one Doom sourceport.

As far as mapping goes, archvile abuse and Baron abuse represent two opposite poles of bad level design. In the case of the archvile, it's incredibly easy to make a completely unfair, even unwinnable encounter using only a few of them. Even one can be make for a hopeless situation if there's no cover anywhere. Shitty archvile use makes for maps that are the "unfair" kind of bad. If one archvile in an open arena with no cover is unfair, than a baron in the same environment is also unfair...for the Baron, who just kind of futzes around in the middle while the player circlestrafes around him in no real danger at all. Make it 10 barons and you already have a total fucking waste of time on your hands. Bad Baron use, then, results in the "boring" kind of bad. Archies and Barons come up constantly here, and it's probably a matter of whether one hates an unfair map or a boring one more. Both enemies can be super fun to fight if used properly. I guess lost souls and spectres are the third pole of being "annoying as shit" -
Lowering floor to 8 above highest raises the floor instead
Stupid Bunny replied to Moustachio's topic in Doom Editing
Yeah I think it’s the problem @ViolentBeetle mentioned. I had the same thing, where I didn’t even know there was such a limitation because everything worked fine in GZDoom and PRBoom+—and then I tried it in Crispy and suddenly my lowering wall wasn’t lowering. I thought it was a bug with Crispy but it was actually a bug with Doom ;) -
Sean Connery in budgie smugglers checks out. It's really nice, every time in my mind I'm like "Hmm I could really use a utility for X" all I have to do is wait a couple weeks and jval will just sort of make it happen, in a way that works really really well

It would definitely feel more satisfying. Like the Hexen fighter feels more raw when punching because he really throws his fist, like...you know, he’s actually punching something, and with that hearty sound like he’s doing real damage. As opposed to Doomguy who can gib an imp in one punch but still looks and sounds like he’s all “eugh I’ll harm youuu” as he kind of taps his enemies with his knuckles EDIT: I guess my new controversial opinion is that instapop never bothered me or seemed weird or wrong or anything -

I’ve actually been challenging myself to not include any teleport closets in my current map for the reason that I don’t want to feel too dependent on them as a device, and see what I can do in their absence. I do agree there’s nothing inherently wrong with them, but that their versatility and ease of implementation mean that they’re ripe for overuse and repetitive, lazy application. They are the revenant of traps. :p -

Damn there’s so many forks of DB2 now. This one looks cool, I’ve just gotten used to UDB but I’ll give DBX a try. It looks neat. -

Is there any way to simply swap linedef indices? As in like...not tags, but the unique identifiers that every linedef has. Since some vanilla linedef actions such as donuts and changing floor textures are dependent on lower linedef numbers it’s kind of a pain in the knickers when I need to replace a linedef with one of a lower index, if the only way to do it is to surgically remove a low-indexed linedef from another part of the map and drop it in where I need it. Is there really no less janky way to do this in UDB? -

Stupid Bunny replied to Moustachio's topic in Doom Editing
If @ViolentBeetle is right then it’s the same problem I had with one of my maps before (more specifics in the thread here). It’s easy enough in UDB to add floor and ceiling heights and make all the floor heights positive—saves you a lot of trouble that way anyway. -
Why didn’t George Bush get his nipple pierced? He already had a dick chainie yeah apparently I haven’t learned any new jokes since 2003
