Is a blood floor supposed to damage the player?
Stupid Bunny replied to Havok's topic in Doom General
Hey the Imps Local 409 has been fighting real hard for better workplace safety -
Improvements you would make to commercial Doom maps
Stupid Bunny replied to Sotenga's topic in Doom General
Hell, they programmed the damn game, they could’ve just made it so like you have to kill the cyberdemon, that its death triggers a wall to lower or something. I guess it slows the speedrunners down a bit but it was within the realm of possibility. -
What does anyone think about the mars volta

This sounds wild. So excited to check them out -
how were bridges made in vanilla?
Stupid Bunny replied to forgettable pyromaniac's question in Editing Questions
These bridges are beautiful and fun and I have employed them in a couple of my maps (using the Erik Alm method, although @DCG Retrowave your method looks worth rejiggering some of my bridges into). A couple side-effects to keep in mind are Weird things will happen if you start to cross a bridge while a monster is underneath it They can be a real nuisance in co-op if people won't wait their turn when crossing over or under it These problems can be mitigated in their own ways but just keep them in mind when you go to make your own bridge. It's possible, for example, to walk in and out of this pit under the bridge, but I have placed Block Monsters flags along the edges of the pit so that our friends on the other side can't walk under and then get suddenly stuck on the bridge when I try to cross it later. Of course you don't need a pit at all, but it makes the monster blocking seem a little less contrived if there's some visible reason for the monsters not to cross under ;3 (This change was made at the suggestion of @valkiriforce btw, it was a good idea) -

Kill that tedious moving floor "puzzle" in Doom II MAP12 Also, as I've mentioned before I actually like the Wolf3D secret levels, but I think there was a less lazy approach to the gimmick where they made actual Doom II maps that simply included Wolf3D resources and the goofy SS men as an extra enemy, rather than just retreading the same old levels with a couple minor changes. Then they'd actually be neat gimmicks instead of just a "oh lol I see what you did there gg guys" -
I always thought the item count thing was kind of weird. I imagine it dates from the time when Doom was gonna have score items like chests and unholy bibles and gems and whatnot, kind of like the treasure count in Wolf3D, and that they just sort of awkwardly kept it to track certain categories of items that can be picked up at any time. I've never paid much mind to the item count myself, at least compared to the kill and secrets counts which are more fun to fill out.

Oooh I like it

I look forward to seeing/hearing your notes! I always appreciate playtests of any sort. EDIT: Good try haha. Yeah there’s a couple ways to tackle it, I find going straight for the blue armor and then just barreling around madly chainsawing shit works well. Here is Clippy’s playthrough in case you’re wondering how he tackled it (hope you don’t mind me dropping this here @Clippy) oh yeah my favorite concert would probably be Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, just remembering that show gives me the shivers

what are you working on? I wanna see your wads.
Stupid Bunny replied to everennui's topic in WAD Discussion
Lol that's always a good time. Even more fun is when you turn everything into a crusher and suddenly the whole level itself is trying to kill you Solid looking techbase map btw -
Post Your Opinions About Doom (Whether Controversial or Not)
Stupid Bunny replied to baja blast rd.'s topic in Doom General
I guess it depends what you mean by modern additions. Like the project I'm doing now is in Doom 2 format, which means that any custom decorations and enemies I have are only included by way of some dehackery which, in turn, gets broken by a lot of mods and add-ons. And I think it's reasonable to make a map without jump/crouch in mind, even now, like I myself admittedly don't like playing maps as much if they require jumping. But I've taken a shine to playing with mouselook and I've never, ever enjoyed playing with infinitely tall monsters. Also I'm really sorry everybody if this turns into debate #45052352374530 about the validity of mouselook, tl;dr "Everyone play how you like etc etc" -
Definitely TekWar, William Shatner never looked so good

Ultimate Simpsons Doom was actually the first custom pwad of any kind I ever played. It's some good shit

I've always found this question impossible to answer because there's so many I love and which have influenced me as a person in various ways, so I'll just go with the first 5 that come to my head as ones that will always be special to me and that tickle my heart and/or brain in an especially profound way 1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon 2. Skepticism - Lead and Aether 3. Black Sabbath - Master of Reality 4. Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! 5. Type O Negative - World Coming Down

Yeah that's fair. And also there's still been far less petty name-calling futility into page 8 than I might've expected from a thread like this (which isn't to say there hasn't been any) so good on everyone for that
-
What is this in response to? This thread has turned into a clusterfuck of like 7 simultaneous arguments so it's impossible to tell

first 2 times posting on doomer baords and i get this
Stupid Bunny replied to haruko haruhara's topic in Doom General
I mean if all you want is more feedback on your maps then by all means post them here if you haven’t already. We will happy play them and give you our honest opinions of them. Don’t ask people to go argue on another website for you, joe-ilya’s response is maybe a bit harsh but he is just expressing his opinions of your work. Oh yeah and please try and use punctuation so your posts are easier to read. -
