  2. i may be biased as my name is on DEFY THE OMPHALOS as a tester, but I genuinely don't see an issue with works asking players to please respect a creator's intentions with their work and to alter the game accordingly. that seems incredibly fair and like a good workaround. and like Lexi said, you could just alter the map or code if you really want to play with trilinear filtering, hq4x upsizing, brutal doom gameplay, 3d model pack-ass doom.
  3. calling game devs/modders lazy invalidates everything you are saying.
  4. there is no option in any game ever made that i turn off faster then texture filtering in gzdoom.
  5. even if doom 4 was going to be 8/10 at best, it's concept absolutely deserves to be revisited. a serious, grounded depiction of a weakened war-torn, disease-ridden earth being invaded by hell? that's too good to throw in the trash!

  7. huh, the black void bug dosen't seem like one we're aware of. are you in our discord? we have a channel for reporting bugs that we didn't catch and submitting your DukeForever.log. the other things you listed are known issues that we plan to fix. the alt-tabbing one is a particular bug-bear we need to get working but it will take some time.

  9. this is all really good stuff we're looking at. nothing is set in stone, everything is WIP and we're not afraid to rip apart the levels to make them play better. we have plans for the stadium that are more than the intro, we just needed to put something in for FS. the ai is currently HYPER aggressive due to some ai overhauls we've done that made combat more dynamic but also made EDF *very* aggressive. we're going to tweak it. thanks for the feedback everyone, keep it coming! we're taking everything in and discussing it internally. 😎

  11. oof! that fuckin sucks because the score of SW97 is one of the best parts of it! btw, i forgot to post that we've released 0.1.5 of Bikini Atoll! https://www.moddb.com/mods/dnf2001-restoration-project/downloads/dnf-restoration-bikini-atoll-test-standalone-015 this is our tech base that dosen't have any of our new assets and changes and is just a really easy way to play the leak with lots of bugfixes and enhancements. and, if all works out, we're putting out our First Slice by the end of the year! the First Slice will be the entire first chapter of DNF with all new assets, map changes, VO, combat, puzzles and more! really can't wait for y'all to get your hands on this. we got so much cool shit cooking. also hey if you're an animator and looking for a project, we need animators! come help rebuild Duke!
  12. it's theorycrafting a bit, to be fair. there's not really any hard evidence we can point to, it's more "ok, what would have happened to cause Broussard's faith in Gameplay>Graphics to fall apart" and that's the biggest example, because they did so much shit to BUILD with SW (even Glide support!) but it died at retail. after that, Broussard became obsessed with DNF needing to be the best playing *and* looking game.
  13. it only sold somewhere around 118k-119k copies by 2002 according to the NPD's by comparison, Duke 3D sold around 1.25 million by 2002.
