A bit too dark, a bit too big. It's so close to being awesome, but he doesn't allow authors like myself to edit the map so I can't salvage the big rock of gold from the small layer of poo on the outside.
This is reaaaally good for May 1994. The map is competently built, a bit sparse on detail but never flat-out dull. I found all 3 keys, killed about 80% of the monsters, but could not for the life of me find an exit, or a way behind those silver bars. For it's age this thing is damn good.
From the text file: "THIS IS *THE* HOUSE WAD, YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER ONE, ANYWHERE." - Probably true in 1997. This looks good for DM and made for a fun single player map, so it's a double whammy of goodness. 4.5/5 nice looks for it's age.
Did... Did someone just cmpare a Boom wad made in 1998 to Crucified Dreams? Are you a dumbass or what? Well constructed map, nice detail, a great MIDI by Mark Klem. Great way to kill some time!
Despite the cramped spaces, this map is obscure, individual and cool. The invisible slopes and such are a very nice touch, it would be fun for a 1v1. Of course, turn the monsters off. 3.5 stars.
