https://skeletalworks.bandcamp.com/album/mirror-world I invite everyone to enter the Mirror World, my newest full length LP. A collection of delicate, meditative, dream-like instrumentals juxtaposed with passages of intensity and catharsis, Mirror World deals with the myriad of human emotions experienced while navigating loss and major life change. Roughly half a year in the making, this is my most conceptually complete, intricate, and personally resonant work to date. I have spent nearly every evening pouring myself into this album, and I believe it shows. It can be harrowing to look oneself in the mirror. Stare deeply into your reflection, and let it gaze back into you. May you learn yourself. Extremely special thanks to @esselfortium for helping me put together the album artwork. :)

Screens look great, and I love that hazy dream-like palette. Will have to give this a whirl! -
Trying to Make Sense of Doom 2's Maps - An Interpretation
pavera replied to GermanPeter's topic in Doom General
This is also interesting to me because, as someone who participated in the creation of Doom 2 the Way id Did, I absolutely did not go to this level of detailed thinking while designing my three levels, one for Sandy, one for Romero, and one for American. We spent a lot of time studying the way they drew linedefs, the way they liked to build their geometry, texture choices, etc. But (at least speaking for myself), I don't think much consideration was ever really given to what the spaces in Doom 2 actually represented in the minds of their creators. Part of me wants to say, it's likely they weren't thinking this hard about it, but maybe we never gave them the benefit of the doubt? Maybe Downtown *is* actually brilliant (it is), and the giant arrow *is* actually a great, thoughtful design choice (it is). -
Trying to Make Sense of Doom 2's Maps - An Interpretation

Super fun video. I love these interpretations, almost convinces me that they were actually thinking of these things while pumping these maps out, haha. -
The Bethesda addons were a really cool little project literally led by Kevin Cloud and @sponge, an active community member, as a way to extend the life of the game that a lot of people bought on consoles (and Steam) for free. It was a lot of fun and super exciting to work with them to get our mods on there and feels like a timeless honor. They even did little interviews with every author of every release, published on their bethesda blog. The whole thing is extremely positive and a great example of a company doing positive community outreach, something that you just don't always see much of anymore in this day & age. They are as "official" as a community WAD can get, as they were essentially hand picked by the existing Doom team at id. There's really not much more to say than that. No, they do not extend the official "lore" of Doom 1 and 2, as they were projects created by authors in the community. They are their own self-contained episodes, and simply an extension of the game we all love.

This is a really good opportunity for you to make a decision that I wish I had made at your age: go offline

MODWALL in C and F tier is supremely misguided, as with ZIMMER8 -_- also sp_rock ???? Entire mapping careers have been made out of that texture!!!!

What were your very first mapping attempts like?

You can find all my early and abandoned work here in my Graveyard It's filled with gems such as ReEntryway and MASTERPIECE.WAD, and it really shows just how much of a hack I actually am! -

"HALLOWS" -- Haunted Black Metal EP out now on Bandcamp!

thanks! I had a blast making this album, in many ways feels like a culmination of everything I have learned over the year. Picking up music production this year has been a huge boost in creative energy to me, so I will say, don't necessarily lose hope ;) -
https://unholybones.bandcamp.com/album/hallows I am probably known on Doomworld as the creator of ARRIVAL, but my most recent projects for the past year or so have been music related! Today I'm releasing a new EP, HALLOWS, a collection of blackened, haunted, infectious instrumentals, meant to get your head banging on HALLOWEEN (and the coming winter months). I've been working super hard on these, and I'm extremely happy with how they turned out. The album is free to download, and all I ask is that if you find yourself enjoying it, leave a comment or a review and pass it onto a friend! Happy (early) Halloween!

FWIW, the missing demos in the original release were an artistic decision. I wanted AD_79's "Kneel Before the Writhing Altar" to play out in full at the title screen, so I hacked in blank demos to keep the loop from starting. They only exist in the unity addon because they made me ;D
