  1. Arena Of Destruction 2

My friend Schorsch complained that my first level, AR_DEST1.WAD hadn't enough Arch-Viles (only 3!) So I got the idea to make a level where you won't run out of Arch-Viles and other Critters... In Arena Of Destruction 2, YOU can decide how many Arch-Viles, Cyber Demons and others appear... Just press the right button! A lot of other Deathmatch-levels are boring, because they are too big, and once you have played them, you get bored (I made one like this, too! But it was my first one) The storage can also be emptied at once, but I don't recommend it... How? Find it out! There is a second set of switches awaiting to be discovered... Can´t find it? Write me!

  6. CROSSING ACHERON 2.2

CROSSING ACHERON is the second level in the INFERNO series. Having passed through DANTE'S GATE and survived, you now find yourself in a keep on the shores of the river Acheron. This is the second leg of the journey in your search for Beatrice. Your guide, Virgil, is nowhere to be found. "He's buggered off!" you think to yourself; but you have no time now to even think: you are immediately challenged by several Demons, and in the distance you hear the eerie purring of the Arch-Vile (just be sure not to stare at him for too long before you start running.) As usual, you dispatch what fiends you may and begin the task at hand.

Your goal? To get the hell out of this place as quickly as possible and find your beloved Beatrice. You only hope that she has already passed through this hell-hole to a safer haven beyond. If only you could hold her in your arms again, you know what you would say:

    "Gimme some sugar, Babe."

CROSSING ACHERON (pronounced 'ak eron) is the second level in a series that began with DANTE'S GATE. For any of the two or three of you out there who have read Dante Alighieri's masterwork THE DIVINE COMEDY -- or even only "Inferno" -- I'm sure you've been able to appreciate the many allusions to this work in DOOM. I have tried to take a tack of my own along the same lines. (I do this not only because I think the idea is neat, but so that people will think that I'm very clever.) I'm not so naïve as to expect everyone to rush out and get a copy of "Inferno" (I mean, it IS pretty tedious stuff, at times), but it's well worth the read -- and a little patience is a virtue that is often well-rewarded.

(By the way: Acheron is a river in Hell (basically). But don't look for any rivers in here: I tried it several different ways and just wasn't convinced.)

    Thanks. Hope you like it.

  7. Blood 'n Guts Part One

Oh no, not another demonic horde invading your new post...yes, I'm afraid so. But hey, that's what UAE Marines get the big bucks for, so have at it! This Doom2 wad is a total hack 'n' slash fest with a few subtleties here and there. All three keys and all the weapons can be found in this nasty demon-infested complex. I challenge you to defeat this thing w/out cheating...Oh yeah, watch out for that Arch-Vile!

  8. Blood 'n' Guts Part Two

In part one you blew the crap out of those invading demon hordes...now it's time to take the fight to them... This Doom2 wad is another in my series of total hack 'n' slash fests. You will need all three keys to finish and all the weapons can be found in this nasty demon-infested complex. I challenge you to defeat this thing w/out cheating, or at least by only using a shotgun.

Hi. You've all heard "The Death Of Moe" in *.wad format, where I (moe) get blown away by the wolfinstien shooting squad. Well, now, if you have doom2, and have the guts to play my level alllll the way through until you have beaten it, you have the chance to get blown away by moe. This is my third wad. I have mad one deathmatch only wad which I would love to play over the line with you, and I also added on to level one of doom one, but that was lost in the deletion of my doom1 dir, so unfortuntly, it is history.

All in all, this level was made to provide a worthy challenge to any and all doom players. I hope you enjoy it, and again, try to play it all the way through WITHOUT CHEATING.

  18. Da Crypt!!

That's what THE CRYPT is all about. A concerted attempt to create a level that's fun AND challenging. THE CRYPT is about skulking and strafing and sniping and strategy! the surroundings were designed for multiple strategic methods. Use the enemies' AI against them! Use cover to defend! Find alternate routes to circle around the enemy and lure them to where YOU have the advantage! THAT'S the Crypt. Not tedious teleporter puzzles or obnoxiously placed keys and powerups. Not swarms of enemies that can only be dispersed with the BFG. In fact there IS no BFG. No annoying, tedious Cyberdemons, either. Just cool stuff, and a kick ass, well-tuned challenge that doesn't force you to use the cheats!.

  21. Big_D (One Hell of a Wad)

Relatively small wad but very intense in some parts. You are inserted into a space port your goal is to get the hell out! One additional item of information is that you dont have to find all the secrets to solve the level but it sure makes it easier. Also all secrets are marked one way or another so look around for signs etc.

  23. Below

Reports of strange noises in the basement have brought you to a castle in Northern Europe. You go downstairs, gun in hand, to investigate, and now you're trapped there. It looks like someone's been busy redecorating the place, but that's ok. You have a few ideas of your own about color scheme. Time to get to work.

  24. CHURCH of DOOM ][

    - Designed for Doom II deathmatch ( -altdeath highly recommended ).

    - This level is a small courtyard with a church, a crypt, and a mausoleum. Points of interest also include a graveyard and men burning at the stakes.

    - Every area has at least two exits so you can't get trapped in.

    - NO LAVA PITS!

    - NO COOPERATIVE EXITS! (gosh I hate those). The exit is right there in the courtyard. It's a cool looking exit, but be careful of accidentally exiting.

    - No BFG.

    - Plenty of ammo and health.

    - The coolest part of this wad (in my opinion) is the church and its "preacher" raising hell and brimestone. I would play it in "Ultraviolence" just to see him 'preach' on his congregation and you.

  25. Man the Mandala

A mandala is an eastern painting or art piece, usually circular in motif with a central point of origin. It is used as a cognitive centering device for meditation. The idea is to immerse yourself in the art work, which in the process would bring you to a space where you can overcome your "demons," so to speak, and come to some resolution. When I first saw Doom, I knew it would be a perfect place to put a Mandala in... demons, resolution to higher levels and immersion.... "Man the Mandala" is my first attempt at playing with this concept. I use some eastern symbolism interspersed with some very western ones, which may or may not be obvious. At any rate, it certainly is a lot more fun and immediate than sitting in a lotus position, following your breath to point on a painting on a wall...which can be fulfilling, but is certainly a hell of a lot more work and not necessarily fun!

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
