  6. The Fortified Castle

Coming back from Middle Ages, and having killed everything in previous episode, The Monastery, you feel happy and proud of having helped your friends. Unfortunately, Hell Order did'nt appreciate your valour, and decided to intensify his efforts to heradicate all kind of rebellion. Seeing this, General Mac Porter orders you to go back to Middle Ages, a few years later than your previous raid. As possible as you can, use tricks instead of frontal assaults, because this mission is harder than the previous you completed so well. Rebellion does'nt want to loose one of its best members. Some secret areas may help you, if you find them.

  10. The Demon Hoards (Doom 2)

Sick of those boring levels everybody else makes that are all the same. Try this one out! You have to escape from the Demon hoards! This is by no means an easy level (though it is quite possible, I've beaten it a zillion times), but it is fun and requires a little bit of strategy and luck combined. Knock yourself out running from over 100 demons!

  11. (Pretty Darn Good) For A First Attempt

A fun, well-crafted wad. There's some nice lighting effects, long halls, twisty passages, enourmous courtyards, some suprising connections between areas, a few reasonably clever layout tricks and a quite extraordinary use of an elevator at the end. It is challenging without being ridiculous; no mobs of cacademons here, thank goodness. Vince put a lot of work into making this look good; you won't have that depressing "generic" feel ("ooh! Concrete!") while playing this wad. --Barry

  16. DM2GM3A.ZIP (dm2gm3a.wad + .txt)

A DOOM II combo co-op/ deathmatch / single player wad. This pwad represents my most ambitious effort for pwad design to date. I have payed particular attention to design elements like textures, lighting and shading, weapon placement, monster selection, and most of all playability. One area of this level is extremely complex, graphically, and had occasionally caused a NoAvailableVisplanes or similar message and subsequent crash to DOS. This should be fixed, but if you have any trouble, please e-mail me right away. This wad designed for use with DOOM II and replaces map01 (level 1). Any and all feedback welcomed. Also, there are no unsolvable puzzles or traps. all secret doors are identifiable via texture change lighting, or similar. Any area you can see, you can get to. Hope you like it, if not please tell me why, so I can improve on design. ANY and ALL Feedback Welcome!

  19. Fortress of Doom (2)

The baddies who you beat up in Doom 2 are not completely destroyed. The last remaining faction captured and took up residence in an old castle. You have been sent to retake it.

This level will work with single player, cooperative, deathmatch, and altdeathmatch modes. If you can't figure out how to get back up to the outer rim, there are stair-ladders on the top, sides, and bottom of the map.

  20. The Dead Sea (bonus level from legend of fifi)

Out in the middle of Fifi's ocean of lava, you must run across a skinny little bridge while being fired upon by not one, but TWO cyber-demons, among other things.

This is just a sample level from my Legend of Fifi wad. It'll have a whole new episode (for DOOM, not DOOM ][) with new graphics and sound and junk. This one is definitely the hardest of the pack. It'll probably take you an hour or two before you can beat the thing, and in between you'll be yelling and screaming like a maniac due to the frustration. You'll see.

    Yes you will...

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
