  3. boo

Doom2 DM map meant specifically for duels. It's very compact & vertical, has some sound cues to track / mislead your opponent, diversity in attacks and ambushes, balanced item placement. Makes for tactical but still very intense combat. Architecture is quite vertical and centers around 2 round pits, all dressed up in q2 textures, and with moody late summer night lighting. Item placement is designed around old deathmatch with a SG, SSG, CS, CG, RL, PG, BFG, with the last 2 putting you at a slight tactical disadvantage when you get them. altdeath adds only a green armour and some health/ammo.

  6. Aftermath Oldschool Duel

A map pack containing 11 highly polished and thoroughly tested duel maps, made for the original "vanilla" doom2.exe.

This WAD strives to create an oldschool dueling experience while pushing the vanilla engine to its limit. The end result is a map pack that runs on any and all ports of DOOM II (including the original DOS doom2.exe), but looks and plays like something much more contemporary.

There should be something here for everybody to enjoy. That is to say, everyone should be able to find at least one map in this WAD that they like to duel on. There is quite a bit of visual and gameplay variety between all eleven of these maps.

  10. Hate Doors

This is a recent speedmapped Death match level utilizing marble textures, and a few bits of things I picked up from a FFA Session on ZDaemon. This is my second wad I have ever completed, and more than likely the first to be successfully uploaded to /idgames.

This level is a square room with a surrounding ring, and two side rooms. Rocket Launcher, Chaingun, and Super Shotgun are in here as well as the BFG. I expect this to be lukewarm in terms of receiving by the community. This was originally to have a few doors in it, but I absolutely suck at making working doors.

Constructive critising comments are welcome as well as the other.. posts that are frequent on here.

This is an EXCELLENT Deathmatch wad, great for two, better for 3, unbelievable for 4! A central tower surrounded by open area and ringed by a ledge. Switches on the ledge control tower's lights and vice versa! Keep moving or snipe from the tower! Is someone else sniping? Drop on them from above! Sneak up from below! Or just SHOOT IT OUT!

BucketDM - a mapset for Doom II.

This is my homage to the days of playing Deathmatch on Episode 1 shareware over a serial connection. It took hours to get the PCs to "see" each other, and the framerate on the old 486 laptop was horrendous-- but man, was it worth it. If you're tired of playing DM on flat maps that look pretty and not much else, you need to download this wad.

  20. Carpodeathia

An abandoned station, placed in a remote location somewhere in high hills. You may consider some corners quite tight, but let me explain. At the beggining I wanted to create a map suitable to play on symbian phones (where you don't have a option to run in DOOM), so the corners weren't a problem. But during the development stage I changed my concept... and this is what you get. Since it's my first release, I would be much thankful for sending any comments about this map. If it is acceptable, be sure to look out for further releases.

  22. ABATTOIR

DEATHMATCH ONLY!!! Abattoir was originally designed for DOOM1, it was based on a version of CROSS.WAD I always enjoyed "The Cross" as a good warm up level, so I cleaned up the textures and added a bit on to it. If you've never played "The Cross" or "Abattoir" before, its a high frag count level for deathmatching. There are two tunnels off the main center room at different heights from each other. This allows you to jump across walls before jumping down into the main frag pit. At the bottom of the pit there are two cages filled with Barons, they can't get out, you can't get in, so try it w/o the -nomonsters. There are two other rooms at the bottom, one contains a blue flamer and the other is a proper exit room which "CROSS.WAD" didn't have. I didn't really enlarge the level, its roughly the same size as "CROSS.WAD", I just added rooms in between the existing areas.

Yet another deathmatch PWAD for doom2. Complete with a baseball park (but the players are on strike).

This new PWAD comes equipped with 3 HUGE buildings, and the newest hangout for MLB players while in Biggcity. Yes, a new ballpark, Launcher Field, is one of the ex- citing attractions you'll see while in town. And don't forget to visit the world famous Hotel Hell. Book a room, invite a friend or three, and have a blast killing them. Happy hunting, human......

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
