  4. Death Pit

A good deathmatch wad. All textures are alinged. The gameplay is good. You can use the BFG, SSG, plasma rifle, and rocket launcher in this level, and there is enough ammo to use. For a better description of this level, go to my website.

  5. DM6: The Darkish zone

I don't think anyone has done a dm6 conversion yet, so here's my attempt. I had to modify the level slightly because of the limits of Doom, but it includes quake textures and sounds. Users of legacy will also have a replacement 'jump' sound, and a new teleport sprite!

  6. The Den of Iniquity ( DEN.WAD )

OK. So you've seen levels made of peoples' houses, workplaces, drinking holes, etc. before. Wot's so special about this house, I hear you cry?

Well, I'll tell you. Not only have we spent hours crafting a very detailed map matching very closely the original, and carefully created a large set of textures (around 30, including animated TV & clothes dryer), but most importantly the house by a staggering piece of fortune turned out to be an extremely good Death Match level.

Too good, in fact. We had to move out. Only so many times you can find yourself strafeing into the toilet without losing it.

Anyway, what we are left with is a highly interconnected, fast paced, well balanced death match arena with a firm sense of '50s kitch. The neighbours even sound as loud and annoying as they ever did.

I know it all seems a bit large just for one level, but trust us on this one, ok? It works.

(By the way, the Den of Iniquity is technically the bungalow in the back yard, but how much fun could you have DM-ing in a single room?)

  7. David's Deathmatch #3: Rerun (dgdm3.wad)

This is an E1 style DM level, designed for two players, but should still be fun with 3-4 players as well, although possibly a bit crowded. The level makes for some short hunting of your enemy in 2 player deathmatch, although it's still a pretty fast-paced fragfest.

Don't complain about how the level looks 'simple' and not very detailed, this is on purpose, I wanted to imitate the E1 style of DOOM, and those levels were simplistic, although they still looked good. I'm happy with it, anyway. I felt that E1 had sort of a simplistic elegance to it, and I tried to imitate this. If you want details, go play Gothic DM 2 or wait for SlaughterDM to be finished. :-)

Anyone know of any other good E1 style deathmatch levels? I find that they're pretty rare...

  9. Frags-R-us

This level has the 'feel' of Doom 2, level 1, has all the weapons including one Bezerk pack and a teleport which can be used for telefragging. It's a fast- paced, small level with enough places to hide from the BFG. Other players can be easily found because this is such a compact level. It's the right time for an X-elent DeathMatch level. Since this is only Warlock's 50th completed WAD, please feel free to e-mail us some feedback about this level. Or if you've recorded a demo and think it has the most frags possible in a demo where -maxdemo 1024 was used, mail it to us and we might put it on our page.

  10. DISCIPLINE (also called CDT -Cyberdreams Deathmatch Tribute-)

Small level designed to be a one-on-one deathmatch. Accurate ambientation and hard fraggin'! If you run this map under any of the new Doom ports in which you can jump, please keep in mind that reaching the Plasma Gun with a jump should be considered as CHEATING, so this time keep your feet on the ground, okey?

Open playing field, fast action, we suggest playing to fifty for one on one and make a rule not to open the exit to the end, this gives the person behind the chance to try and keep you from ending it. You can usually get a few frags back if you play your cards right.

to weak to fight again you run, after a few miles of running and them gaining on you you come some sort of Druidic Circle.
Seeing all the Bodies hanging from it you come to the horrid discovery this was one of the Sacrefecial Shrines to the DemonLord.

Once again you pick out your favourite weapon and when running at them with a vengeance you shout : "Come on you Sons 'o Bitches, you wanna live 4ever!"

  21. The Abandoned Base (for Doom II)

This is an effort at converting the much-loved Quake DM3 level (by John Romero) to Doom2. I tried to make it as realistic as possible without adding textures (otherwise it wouldn't properly be Doom2 would it? :) But I did add ambient sounds (very cool)

  25. Death Match Marathon Wad

You wake up one day trapped in an area that you have never seen before. Wandering around for a while you discover that you are not alone. Another person (or persons depending on the number of players) like you is/are also in the same situation. You get a sudden urge to kill anything that breaths as well as finding you way back to your space ship before they frag you.

There is a BFG 9000 and Supercharge in this one but trust me, they're very hard to get without dying. The corners are for all you lame campers out there. If you ever play a camper just fire a whole pile of rockets in there, that always flushes them out. If you're ever being chased on the outside. Just dive into one of the portals or get them on one of the corners. Always be aware of any door sound that occurs. If you do hear it then that means that a player is trying to get a BFG, Plasma Rifle, Mega Armour, Supercharge, Light Goggles or Beserk. If you can't kill them before they get through the door run to the middle standing ready with a super shotgun. If you're the one going for the good stuff while your fellow deathmatcher is waiting at the teleport then your best bet is to go for the Supercharge or Mega Armour in the hope that they will save your life. This map is generally more for people who like open spaced maps. However, I have put some dark tunnels in to ballance it out a little.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
