  1. Slaughter!

A weird Doom 2 DM level that's designed for surprise and shock value. This level, for anyone who is an inexperienced DM player, is evil. It's complex, dark, dangerous, and intense. Cool architecture, too.

  2. The S&J wad collection V1.2

This wad collection was made by two Oregon State University doom 2 fanaticks. It is not an attempt to show off wad making mastery, for we are just beginners and these are our first creations. We were just trying to make good deathmatch levels with the intent being fun.

  3. Showdown

This level was designed for Deathmatch. Whoever is on the outermost level has complete control over two crushing ceilings. However, the crushing ceiling can be stopped at any time by crossing the outer linedef of that particular circular ceiling. On the highest level, stepping on the red square will activate one of the ceilings, and the black square will turn it off.

  4. STAHL1.WAD

Medium sized deathmatch WAD. Excellent gameplay due to *extensive* playtesting. If the rocket launcher is your weapon of choice, you'll drool over this one. Wide multi-story areas, fast access to (almost...) every position, sniper windows everywhere - but you can never be sure, your opponent won't slide behind your back while you try to catch a breath. This is a *fast* level which means: 1) You will not find a BFG in here. 2) You will not find poison pools. 3) You will not find jails. If you are disappointed by that, E-MAIL us. We will send you in return a personalized copy of our infamous WAD "classics of suck". Enough said. Now go out and do a clean job.

  5. STOKER2 DOOM ][

    - Designed for Doom II deathmatch ( -altdeath highly recommended ). Stoker2 came about due to the e-mail I received on Stoker.wad. Most of the e-mail I received was very favorable however there was almost a unanimous request for monsters. Therefore Stoker2 has monsters along with some architectual changes from Stoker to accomodate them. There's an old saying "Be careful what you ask for, you just may get it". In skill level 4 there are probably more monsters than most people can handle. Be forewarned...MONSTERS, MONSTERS, MONSTERS.

    - This level's venue is a European mansion several hundred years old. There is a noticeable lack of technology other than the weapons, they are all included. There are no teleporters and only one lift, which is in the center of the courtyard. I tried to give this level the look and feel of a real place. The size of the WAD file is mainly due to the amount of detail I put in each room (fireplaces, beams, furniture etc.).

    - This level was inspired by the Ledges series in that there is a central courtyard surrounded by a series of rooms and walkways.

    - I tried to satisfy the two different types of deathmatch playing styles. There are several snipe points for those who like to wait in ambush (some of which are accessible only through secret doors), and open areas (ie. the courtyard).

    - There are 8 deathmatch starts. All starts are in rooms which have one exit which is only opened from the inside. Each start position has a single pump action shotgun, a box of shells and a backpack. This was done by a suggestion one of my testers made to make all the starts fair, and to also eliminate materializing in front of another player after being killed, which usually gave somebody an easy frag. After all who wants hollow victories!

    - All rooms (other than the start rooms and some secret rooms) have multiple exits. This way it's hard to be trapped in a room without an avenue of escape if needed.

    - This level has been throughly tested in 2, 3 and 4 player deathmatches. In 4 player deathmatches we have averaged 1 kill every 20 seconds. In one testing run (testing? hee hee) we had, we played a 4 player deathmatch for 1.5 hours and totaled over 350 kills. Since we play 4 player deathmatches I designed this level for that, therefore Stoker2 is probably to big for 2 player deathmatches. However, 2 player DM's are interesting if you use monsters on skill levels 1 or 2. We also tested this level in single player mode using skill levels 4 and 5. Skill level 4 is challenging but possible. Skill level 5 is impossible.

  8. SIMPLE.ZIP

This is a simple wad(being my first) but does have some interesting things to do. I haven't included very many monsters as it is intended for deathmatch play. I recommend that you play with at least 125% turbo, that's what it was tested at, and you need that much to get to some things in one of the rooms.

  9. The Shrine

Three main areas. The large area has a "shrine" in the center. There is a Rocket launcher and both blue power-ups here to draw players towards the center of the level. The main are also includes a large staircase leading up to a dark ledge and a small, dark maze where a player may run in and loose an attacker. The two smaller areas are great ambush sites.

There's not a whole lot of ammo laying around so once you get a weapon, make your shots count.

This level should DEFINATELY be played using -altdeath (DEATHMATCH 2.0)

  11. TRIGGERS.WAD

DOOM ][ DEATHMATCH WAD This my fifth wad, and it's built primarily for DeathMatch. It has a nice, large 'arena' to battle in, quite a few hidden triggers on linedefs that open various doors, pits, and lifts. Also, plenty of darkness for those ambushes! And, like ALL my wads, NO shortage of weapons or ammo!

  13. ShadowLand

This is a brick and steel arena with special lighting. It's possible to get lost when you have to in the shadows. Lots of atmosphere. I've included all weapons except the BFG, lots of ammo, and enough health to make it worth while to escape a losing firefight.

  14. 2708 Ellsworth Street, Berkeley CA

Well, this is the house I've been living in for the past year or so, replete with secret passages and stuff that isn't honestly there (with the notable exception of the dead bodies in the basement, which we have to assume are there since that door is locked from the inside). Each room has many exits, and there is a good mix of small rooms and wide-open spaces. Try it with -warp 01 -respawn for variety; just enough shotgun dudes to keep it interesting.

  15. Square Ring

A DOOM2 level designed specifically for deathmatch under 2.0 rules. (can be played in normal deathmatch mode as well) It is basically four square sectors each seperated by teeth doors or short passages. These sectors are surrounded by an outer ring at a higher level that allows you to jump into the main playing area through windows. There is also a passage that runs straight through the middle of the level as well as a few teleports thrown in. Playing on skill levels 1 or 2 should give you a real suprise. (co-operative)

This wad was made stictly for deatchmatch play. No monsters, just all out fun. I have included all of the items I feel necessary for a good, fair deathmatch game. There is even a way to make use of the Berzerker power up but I'll let you figure that out.

  23. Teleport Mania II - [Doom II only]

A deathmatch only wad with mostly dark rooms and halls. Fairly small with very little ammo and few weapons (highest Rocket Launcher). Once again many teleporters to add some spice. The teleporters have a pattern thats not too complicated. Multiple tp's per tp exit though so don't stand around.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
