  1. Highlnds.wad (for Doom 2)

This is one of the largest single level pwads in existance. The general setting is a wide-open city with many large buildings. The level is actually divided into 5 sections, each with a different purpose. The first is your main base, where the players start. This contains most weapons and a fair bit of power-ups. The second is a small central region which is used to gain access to the remaining three city-like areas. These must be opened in sequential order with keycards. The first main area is given the theme of fire, the second being water, and the third being earth. Basically, this level could also be called Elementl.wad as well. To beat this level you must defeat the Cyber-Boss, as well as a horde of other monsters.

  5. GUARDIAN

A one level wad, however you may think it is more like 3-4 levels combined due to it's complexity! You have been sent in to guard an ancient ruin. You're trip will take you through sewers, caverns, and a romanesque type city. For those of you editors out there who are curious as to JUST how big this WAD is, it originally was one level with over 1700 monsters (yes, one seven zero zero), 700 sectors, and 3,700 linedefs. This WILL take even the best players AT LEAST 20-30 minutes to beat. And that's after you already know where you're supposed to go! I play this and have fun, and I already know where everything is!

Pwad for Doom2. Small wad that works well in single player, but really shines in deathmatch or (sigh) co-op. Small enough for hunting but big enough for ambushes.

  12. GUY2PLYR.EXE

Ok, this is a nice little replacement .EXE file for Doom 2. It changes some of the enemies into other players (just like the ones you kill in deathmatch). There are 4 different types of players, and here's the list!

COLOUR WEAPON SPEED HEALTH Green Rocket Launcher Okay Good Indigo Shotgun Okay Okay Brown Pistol Bad Okay Red Chaingun Good Bad

The hardest guys to kill are the Red guys. They can get you from just about anywhere in the level!

I have also included one of my .WAD files, this is called Ralkath.WAD. It shows you all of the guys and where NOT to place them!!! (It's VERY hard)

Type "MENU" to bring up the menu.

  13. hsg_0116.WAD

A city style .wad for Doom2 @ Map16 for its sky. Every Doom or Doom2 player should build one Map level from scratch at least once in their lives and this is my first effort at doing this. I sought to create a challenging single / (perhaps multi) player level without using any Cybers in it. If you like timing traps, hidden switches, secret passages, occasional surprises, and the trappings of cities, like: offices, warehouses, libraries, and ball parks, then try this one. There really is an exit to the next level in there too, but you have to decipher it first. (I also put in starts and ammo for 4 DM players, but having only this one computer to work with, I cannot be sure if they are for co-op, DM proper, or both). But be prepared to run for the door at start up in single play, there is NO safe area at the beginning. Average play time for this .wad is about one hour.

  19. Immortal

The design of these wads spans three or four time periods thus the name Immortal. It also reflects the game itself. Many changes have occured and we have Quake, Boom, Xdoom and Zdoom to name a few. Some of them include nice enhancements but for me nothing matches the feel and play of the original game.

These levels are designed for all skill levels but they are not easy. UV is better left to the advanced players. All three skill levels present a good challenge and all are fun to play.

I recorded each level in UV as part of playtesting. It would be great to see them all recorded as fast as possible. If done I'm sure John Blackburn would post them on his Home Page. Or perhaps the fastest recording of each level by different people! PLease record, we'll post the fastest UV lmps.

The textures are beautiful and reflect what had to be a great amount of work on the part of the Gothic Crew. One of the wads is a showcase for all of the stained glass and was built especially for my wife, as was Camelot.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
