  2. OE4951.WAD

A considerable period of my life was spent in a house by the name of OE4951. Thus is this the DOOM][ transcription of some of the characteristics of the place. Lots of hours are put into this one, lots of beer & whisky put in me during. At last, after maybe a couple of hundreds of hours fighting ill textures, the output is this (to my opinion stil inadequate) huge WAD containing fantasy bits as well as the naked truth considering the lay-out of OE4951. Most textures are the mere artistic feeling, the sector arangements, however, are the result of painstaking labour involving a little metric device and a calculator. The result places you a bit in viewpoint of a child (the transcendation of my childhood maybe?) for otherwise all windows tables and kitchensinks would turn out climbable.

  4. OK Corral

This started out as a simple deathmatch wad and quickly got out of control. :-)

I orginally did this up with only 5 buildings and _only_ beserk packs (and some clips). It was nice, but I wanted to take advantage of the sniping. So I added some shotguns in UV. Then I thought, some wimps might want to try other weapons. So I added those under Not Too Rough. And extra buildings seemed in order.

Anyway, here it is. It's a fun little level even as single player. Don't let the bar fool you. It _is_ survivable in single player. _Don't_ have monsters in network unless you've got a screamingly fast net. It just crawled when we tried it on a friend's IPX net at work. Too damn many demons. :-)

I (honestly) got the idea before I heard about Boothill. I love their levels, but this is more of a John Wayne thing on HMP. :-)

  5. The Unholy Temple

This level is mostly a single player level but it can be played in Death Match. I did spend alot of time on it so it really kicks. It features great texture alignment, a good layout, kewl lighting fx, a new sky, and new music! and on top of all that it's free! Try it!

  6. The Odyssey V.1.01.PCG

This is my SECOND fully working Doom level. The FIRST standard level!

In the future, it is a crap place, and people like violence on TV. You enter one of these Running Man type competitions and win. After, you are knocked unconscious and abducted... BLAH, BLAH BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.

You find yourself trapped inside a prison cell conviently stashed with weapons. After overpowering the guard you appear in a giant ring full of battaling monsters...

This is an arena, and you have entered prematurely. Take part and win, or become a loser nobody remembers.

The action continues as you try to make your escape through a maze of similar looking rooms, but it is guarded by monsters all the way through.

It IS possible, but it takes a little practise. When you figure out what to do and where to go it is a piece of cake (almost). Just charge through.

This is untested on Network 3 & 4 player games.

TIP: For slower machines, (less than a 486 DX4) I would recommend... Playing the 2nd skill level. This does not have the spawn cube and can speed up play. But this is then EASY level and makes it... easy. I am looking into it for the next version.

  9. Market

In their invasion of earth, the demons had taken a market next to city hall, a primary peice in the final attack and capture of New York City. With SWAT teams putting together plans outside the premesis, you take it as your job to do all the work. You borrow a helicopter and drop down inside the store through a vent. Neat. Looks like no one in this abandoned shop noticed you.

This wad has a combination of wide open areas and narrow hallways with several traps throughout. I tried to leave plenty of ammo a few gifts here and there. I tried to make it satisfy several tastes and tried to make it fairly difficult.

  11. Marine Games

This file replaces MARGAMES.WAD which had a slight problem with the stair crusher if death occurred in co-operative or deathmatch.

You've been captured by the bad guys and tortured during their "medical experiments". Now they want to test your ability to solve their "Marine in a Box" puzzle.

You're teleported amidst a large complex. Stripped of everything but your pistol, you must find your way out.

  15. OSIRIS Total Conversion

OSIRIS Total Conversion is the much-expanded sequel to I, ANUBIS (a DOOMGATE "Best Doom2 of all time" level). OSIRIS makes that one look like pac-man.

OSIRIS contains incredible new monsters, textures, graphics, and sounds (326 new sprites!). Loosely (very loosely) based on the movie "STARGATE". Designed to be DIFFICULT, with serious thought applied to gameplay, lighting, architecture, immersion, and theme.

Gameplay will be best on ULTRAVIOLENT in single-player or co-op modes. Provision for deathmatch is not included. OSIRIS is NOT so huge as to slow your machine to a crawl, but faster machines will, of course, play better.

OSIRIS is a totally immersive experience. A connoisseur's wadset. Not for the weak.

Requires doom2 1.9 or a deft hand with dehacked. Really. This won't work with other versions. The upgrade patches are freely available at cdrom.com in the idstuff directory or in Compuserve's ACTION GAMES forum.

Just run the Mission.bat file and a full description will be available. I think that the level should be played in one life (no saving and loading games). It makes it more of a challenge. It was designed to be playable in one life, so saving and loading games would make it really easy.

  24. The OtherWorld

Pretty dark, this one, and a little empty when it comes to the weapons. Set in the usual stone fortress with plenty of enemies to take out. Watch all the shotgun dudes in the second room: they can get out of control very easily. I originally set out to make this one a little more monster orientated - with less emphasis on the architecture. Now that I look back on it, it seems to have a even balance of the two. Another in my series of ...world levels. They don't really have anything in common, it's just easier to make up names this way. After all, the level is what counts, not what I call it.

So we created this EXACT copy of the Office Depot in Fort Worth, Texas on Ridgemar Road so we could vent our frustrations out at the end of the working day. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!!

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
