  3. Gladiator

This level is basically a large arena where you get to test your skills against all the monsters, and very large amounts of them too. It's meant to be completed without saving, but you probably have to train and try different tactics before you manage that. The order in which different monsters are released is very non-linear, and you need to find the order that works best for you. This gives the level an element of strategy. Unless you play at the easy difficulty settings, you will not get enough ammo to kill everyone yourself, so you need to get the monsters to kill each other. This is everyones fight against everyone else. Will you be the survivor?

Note that the level is located on map29 (to get the right sky and music). Run with -warp 29, or use the cheat IDCLEV29.

  5. A Hex on You

3-level set with a medieval theme, using Hexen2 textures, new sprites, and a beautiful new sky. The architecture is quite detailed, and the texture alignment is near perfect (can you say "huge pain in the ass and a major buttload of work"?)

Map_01 -- Ramparts Entry-level type map, where you explore the outer walls of a medieval castle and figure out a way to gain entry.

Map_02 -- The Keep Start in the outer courtyard, explore the tradesman's compound and the fountains before venturing deeper into the castle. Marvel at the quiet beauty of the chapel and the desolation of the cemetary, before storming the inner courtyard and the keep. Tarry awhile in the great hall and the throne room and then spend a moment in silent reflection at the pavilion. Next, curl up to a good book in the library and when you tire of that, find your way into the bedchamber. Finally, the crypt awaits.

Map_03 -- The Crypt Are you afraid of the dark? Is the Boogie Man not one of your favorite people? Do you wish you'd saved that last bullet for your- self, instead of frantically pumping it into the rock-hard skull of that damned baron? Then this level is not for you. If, however, you like creepy places (who doesn't?) and can ration your ammo then by all means venture forth!

  9. The Icon Of Sin (2)

I was working on this on the side, it is obviously an Icon Of Sin level, just for fun, or to test your doom skills. It's really easy on lower difficulty settings and insane on higher ones, but i can beat it, so you can too, if you conserve ammo and are quick on your feet. If your wondering what the level is like, its a whole lot of volcanic activity smack dab in the bowels of hell, hope that clears things up.

  10. Days of Xornox The Ice World

This is a wad has 5 chilling levels. They are all pretty moderate. But level 3 the Matahorn is a time consuming level. It took me 42 minutes to pass it. I like it the best though. The other levels are pretty tricky. On level 6 there is an ice guarian. beat him then go to Iceboss.wad. I spent alot of time on the matahorn level mostly. The other levels I ran though.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
