A drastic improvement to my very own MAP30.WAD, an "alternative" Icon of Sin level. Now it can be very hard to beat, especially when you get too aggressive. Give it a shot.

The WAD file is 56.4K in size.

  9. Phoebus Strikes!

You all know who "Phoebus" is. This short movie is about him.

On an editing level it's not quite as good as it should be, but I wanted to finish this today. It should still drive the point home.

  11. NUTS3.WAD - Triple the Nut, Double the Mongoose.

NUTS3.WAD, The story continues... You buy a single black balloon with white stars on it for your grandmother's birthday. As you walk out of the balloon store, something happens. The balloon starts to grow in size. Bigger and bigger. Until it's so big that it pops, and from within it, an ancient world spills out over your reality and all your consiousness slips into it's dark shoes.

You're in the middle of a bloody huge sea of demons, on an ancient meteorite. There is a weird tower to the west, also ancient it seems, which may be your ticket out of this fested, putrid vertex riddled world. All the other directions are blocked.

There is a gun and a backpack near you.

  12. Outpost of Hell 2 - The Fortress

This level is set in a fortress, composed by two parts: the first is its newest building, with offices, a little hospital, a cemetery; the second part is the real fortress, with a huge courtyard, battlements, towers, a big library, a first aid, some warehouses, a dormitory, a refectory, a "church" and a "technology base" or "teleport base". I tried to make a multi-theme level, with a main texture (GSTONE1) and other various textures (such as wood, metal, tech textures, etc.). I used again the SP_HOT texture in the crypts, in order to make a sort of link with the first episode of this series. Someone couldn't like it, but I think it is a characterizing texture! Note my improvements compared with my first level of "Outpost of Hell" series: it is more detailed, more good looking and architecturely very fine. This .WAD was designed as a single map, but I had to divide the level into two different maps, because of WadAuthor limitations and errors. It will take you more than one hour to play it to the end. You need ZDoom to play this level correctly!

  13. NUTS2 - 2nd and/or 1st Anniversary Gold Plated Plutonic Aloy Coated Eight volume Nuclear Donkey Edit

3 big battle rooms, to test your Doom ability. Only once you pass these 3 obsticles, then and ONLY then, can you claim the 'DOOM GOD' Trophy and exit the wad and get on with your lives. I actually took out hundreds of enemies so the FPS shouldn't go as ridiculously down as with Nuts.wad.

  15. Wasted 1: Industrial Zone

The first in an occassional series of small but tough-ish levels.

You've just entered a long abandoned industrial facility that's recently been taken over by the hellspawn. Your mission? Survive.

This is the second release of this level, with additional detail and improved gameplay - now there are actually more enemies on harder skills!

While the first release ran with doom2.exe, this version will most likely cause HOM and VPO without a limit removing port.

There's a story which you'll probably need to understand the plot (good lord, there's a plot?!) so read it or I might have to beat you down. It's at the bottom of this file. If you read anything, at least read that.

This PC was from the beginning meant to be mainly DM maps for up to 32 players DeathMatch, as it progressed though it became mainly focused on SP and COOP. Some DM features are included but some maps are very poorly supported for this. Map01-04 should be the best though. There's some new monsters aswell as 7 all new weapons.

  25. NiGHTMARE Speedmapping Compilation #5

This is a compilation of the WADs entered in NiGHTMARE's fourthspeedmapping exercise. Participants were given 100 minutes to create a Doom 2 level on a certain theme. This week's theme was to create a hellish base based on the following story:

'Several years ago, UAC established a small base in the very heart of hell. The purpose of this base, whether it was built for research, as some kind of stronghold, or for some other reason, was never made clear, even to most of the staff who worked there.

Of course, the native inhabitants of hell weren't too happy about the base, it was quickly invaded (as usual the UAC failed to provide adequate security precautions).

Recently you, one of the few survivor of the attack, were contacted by the military. They want to use a dimensional gateway they've somehow got their hands on to send you to the over-run UAC base in hell.

The reason for this is that an important item is hidden somewhere there, and they want to prevent it from falling into the hands of the hellspawn. Your job is to find this item, get to the base's dimensional gateway, and escape.'

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
