  4. DANTE'S GATE version 1.2

This is a revision of my first level. For the most part, the only "theme" I had in mind was to make the level as aesthetically pleasing and consistent as possible. In other words, I wanted it to look neat. There are lots of little nooks and crannies scattered about, and (I hope) a few surprises.

Please let me know what you think by E-Mail at any of the above addresses.

Enjoy. (And if you liked DANTE, check out the next one in the series, CROSSING ACHERON.)

  5. Drug Me

A rather large level. I had it up past 300K, but had to "trim" once Doom started crashing. Features many areas designed for multiplayer (deathmatch or co-op), including windows and some sniping spots. Can be played completely with single player, though.

  8. E2M1_JOE.WAD Version 1.0

E2M1_JOE.WAD is a brand-new DOOM multi-player WAD file made from scratch featuring moving floors (emulating large elevated platforms) with corridors leading off to weapons and various items.

There are also tons of barrels, all weapons except for the plasma gun and BFG 9000, and plenty of rockets for the rocket launcher! The light level also varies from sectors to sector in order to make it even more realistic.

This is our first attempt at a wad file for DOOM! It runs on E1M1 and shouldn't work with the shareware version! We haven't implemented different skill levels or multiplayer or deathmatch level cos we're too lazy to be bothered...I can't play deathmatch so why should you lot! There are no new graphics and no new sounds...in fact it is complete shite! So don't bother to download it...i Wouldn't!!!!!! Honest!!! If you do don't come crying to me! you have been warned!

  12. FRENZY on Phobos

So you think you're the best, eh? So you think that because you've killed the two barons in the first map, you're invincible. Think again, cadet, you ain't seen NOTHING.

I've tried to make this map as challenging as possible both intellectually and during play. There are a couple puzzles in here that will get you thinking. I designed this level so that it will be VERY hard to pass on the 1st try. It is VERY possible that you can get stuck and have to start the level over. Save often!

  14. DETH1.WAD

Originally intended as a two-player DeathMatch blast, this level is made for high-speed friend-killing carnage. It does play OK on single player, though, as the (reasonably) action packed demo shows. This demo shows you all the hidden bits as well, so as to make DeathMatch games fair.

We (Andre and Tim McLachlan) wrote some new music for our first levels, but it sounded really awful on SoundBlaster. (well, Pantera- style drums are hard to get right at the best of times!) If people really want more music (and I can see how they might, the number of times I've heard the E1M1 music) then E-Mail Tim MacLachlan about his music library. He's on summer recess too, so don't expect a prompt reply.

If your version has some additional wads (THRASH.WAD, TWILIGHT.WAD) then these contain the music and you can include it with DOOM -file .

Oh, yes. The tutorial that comes with DEU 5.2 says that you can't align textures around windows and doors. This is not the case, I'm happy to say (take a look at the vine-covered structures and the marble edifice of you don't agree).

TRAPPED!! - how? where? It doesn't look so bad! Nice clean room. Oh look somebody left me 2 boxes of ammo. Well better take it, you never know when some ammo might come in handy. : Look a door! What's behind it? Oh, a bridge leading to another door. Lets go!! ..... Aargh, a trap, lots of IMPS!!!! : Well that describes about 1% of this level. It's big, it's mean. There are many traps, puzzles and effects. : Anybody who finishes this level on NIGHTMARE is definitely a DOOM GOD and should mail me immediately. : My best time for Ultra Violence is 31:36, 100/100/100 no saving. Let me know how you do.

  19. Frag Festival

Very big (over 550 sectors) deathmatch level with many different areas including a large death arena, a room with many disorienting elevators, some strategically placed lighting, a couple of one-way walls, etc. Also, if you want to end the level, it will take a lot of work, but not necessarily cooperation. I suggest playing on difficulties 1, 2, or 3 with "-respawn", or on difficulty 4 without "-respawn", unless you are really cool. :) Since this level is so big, you might try hunting each other down in "cooperative" mode, so you can see where your "friend" is. (I've played for over a half an hour before without seeing my "friend") Also, you might want to look really hard, and you might find some secret areas that you might use to your advantage. (Maybe even use an editor to find them) Well, enough of this, let's get to the important stuff.

  21. FLAT-692.WAD

This is a level which was originally intended to be a simple copy of our flat. Our flat proved to be very boring so I added a subterranian section. This does not have to be explored to complete the level. There are some areas that were specifically added for deathmatch play but these don't detract from single player mode. Our flat number is 692, this is not version 6.92

  22. DEADZONE.WAD

This level was designed primarily as a three to four player deathmatch, but it can also be played through as a single player game. The level is based round a large central cavernous room containing four gun turrets. As a deathmatch level, the best places to be (in terms of where to find weapons and good ambush/sniper points) are also the most dangerous. These are the deadzones.

  24. DIOPATRA

Hello, and welcome to the third installment in the UCA storyline! Of the 3 thus far, this one is probably the hardest. It is designed for single player, though coop mode is supported but not tested. Deathmatch, however, is NOT supported, as DIOPATRA is a bit too large and too dark to make an enjoyable deathmatch wad. Difficulty levels are supported but limited to basically "hurt me plenty" or "ultra-violent."

DIOPATRA is an almost completely cavernous wad. As such, it is DARK and a bit mazy. It is rather non-linear; you have to determine for yourself the best way to go about completing and exploring the different sections. This is a fairly dangerous wad - as noted, it happens to be rather dark, though I have included several lite-goggles to help...if you find them. DIOPATRA looks and works best if you don't jack up the gamma correction, so play this one at night or in a dark room. Don't blame me if you play in broad daylight and can't see much - you've been warned! :)

  25. E1M1SAS.WAD

This level replaces Episode 1, Map 1. It is a stand-alone level and *NOT* intended to blend in with the standard DOOM levels. The skill levels are different than what you may be used to. "Ultra Violence" is a major monster-fest and intended only for experienced mouse users. "Hurt Me Plenty" is more comparable to the standard "Ultra Violence". "Hey, Not Too Rough" and that other one are for you wimpy players...

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
