  1. PRIMUS.WAD

This is my first WAD ever,so it is noticeably lacking some of the more sophisticated features like rising staircases etc.I wrote it as a learning experience. There are lots of monsters, and the play level is moderate. There are also a number of secret rooms and no shortage of weapons.

  2. POISON.WAD

An environmentalist's nightmare. Mostly toxic waste with some other areas to explore. (Hint: try to save the radiation suits) This is my first (successful) PWAD. Being able to navigate through the ooze quickly is a valuable asset in this level. I have been able to get through the level with the radiation suits provided, but don't get dis- couraged if it takes you several tries.

  4. Quagmire (A difficult or irksome situation)

Just a level that got me into wad building and to learn DEU 5.21. I just kept adding things I liked and seeing if my play testers could get through them. There's plenty of ammo and a few tricks to figure out.

  5. REDRUM

Redrum is a rather large file, over 300k. For some reason beyond my comprehension DOOM will not let you save your game while playing Redrum.wad, so you better be pretty good at doom! Also may I suggest that you run doom with your "messages on". This is the only way you will know if and what key you will need to open a locked door for I have not color coded them (I just didn't like the look of em' in my level) I have included Deathmatch starts in this level but I did not design the level for it. The level is so expansive you might never find each other. I think there is a nice mix of monsters, amo, and first aid in the level. If you think it is too hard or too easy you may add or delet amo and health to suit your needs (I don't mind). I have also hidden my secret doors very well, and you may have to use more of a "Wolfenstein" approach to find them. Have fun!

  6. RRWARD01.WAD (all the cool names were taken)

This is a _very_ large file, owing to the detail given to the level (lots of linedefs) and the shear size of the map. This map is designed primarily for single player games, but has multi-player starts, and an interesting consession for DeathMatch, though the map was not designed for DeathMatch. This map took over 150 "man-hours" to create, and outgrew both DEU 5.0 and DEU 5.1's memory allocation schemes. There are no "step wrong and die" traps - If you can get into an area (without cheating) you can get out. There are secrets, hidden doors and switches galore in this map.

This is a re-release with two minor fixes (linedef changes and one texture change). This file replaces the older RRWARD01.WAD and RRWARD01.ZIP.

Close quarter melee with that favorite of weapons, the Shot Gun. Compact, detailed level in the spirit of ID's original first episode. If you're fed up of panoramic blast-o-thon's and "Oh my, there's a Cyberdemon next to the player one start." then this is for you.

  10. runaway.zip (runaway.wad and .txt)

Named not for any particular theme, more for the fact that once I started designing this level, I just kind of ran away with sector creation, and presto....runaway.wad. Has copious weaponry, but still may be pretty hard in UV. Not bad for deathmatch, but kind of spread out. Lots of different textures lighting and room environments, a few tricks and secrets and poetic liscence stolen unabashedly from id's original levels.

  12. QUATRO.WAD

Much ammo, weapons, monsters (especialy cacodemons - I like them), spider boss on skill >=3 in multiplayer game. Different exits for singleplayer and multiplayer games. In multiplayer one player must press switch to open doors to exit and another go thru this door. Level was originally designed as a deathmatch level, but also good for cooperative and singleplay.

  16. Preview To A Kill

Basically, this is a short, but entertaining, wad to replace E1M1. It's a preview for an episode that I will post soon. I've named it Preview To A Kill because it had the certain tackiness that is not present in DOOM. It's a fun level, IHMO. No bugs, for single, co-op, deathmatch. Has skill settings. Used DEU 5.21, BSP 1.1. I can't. Speak in complete. Sentences anymore. Anyways, try out the level; it's worth the download.

  19. RS_OOZI.WAD

This level is designed to provide lots of shooting action (hence the "oozi" pun). There aren't a lot of puzzles, or secret doors that must be found to get to the end. Nor are there any "death traps" or rooms with 18 Cyberdemons. Just steady action. And while there are lots of bad guys to kill, an attempt was made to keep it realistic and within the class of an original Doom level (i.e. this isn't just another bunch of monsters and weapons and ammo haphazardly strewn about every room). I'd appreciate any and all comments/ flames as to whether it succeeds. It has been beta tested by 2 players other than myself (with a "thumbs up" from both), but only in single-player mode. Multi-player and Deathmatch modes are provided, but not tested. The difficulty levels are also implemented. In general, the harder the difficulty, the more monsters you get. This level is designed to be challenging WITHOUT using the cheat keys!

This is my first attempt at a Doom level built from scratch. Many, many, many! hours went into this level, the majority of which were spent learning various editors and the ins & outs of building levels in general. At some point in time I'm sure I've done every wrong thing that can be done. But it's been a lot of fun and I hope you get as much fun out of playing it.

  20. REACTOR2.WAD

After cleaning out one of UAC's power plants, you drop all your extra weapons and baggage, then jump into the transporter to return to your ship. As your molecules start to scramble, you suddenly realize you forgot to set any coordinates for the transport. In a matter of a picosecond, many different possible landing sites pass through your mind, such as deep space, the center of an active volcano, or hell itself. As you start to materialize, another picosecond is spent wishing you hadn't left the heavy weapons behind.

  23. PRINCTN1.WAD

This level was built using the actual floorplans of part of Wilson College, a dorm complex at Princeton University. The design features two large courtyards along with many of the dark hallways found in the buildings here. The dining hall is a particularly unpleasant area (both in this wad file and in reality.) For those familiar with Princeton, the buildings included are Clapp Hall, 1938 Hall, and Wilcox Hall.

  24. RAMPAGE.WAD

Here's a nice, complete reconstruction of the office where I work here in San Francisco. Now when I get mad I don't have to just sit around and steam until I finally snap and go on a real rampage -- I can do it at home! And so can you! Just pretend your co-workers and friends have been turned into evil creatures and it's easier to open up on 'em! Anyway, this wad is here so you can vent your frustration in an air-conditioned and target-rich environment. It's especially good for deathmatch , with lotsa nooks and crannies for your point-blank shotgun dueling enjoyment. I won't tell you where this office is because I wouldn't feel safe knowing that there will be a lot of people out there who can wipe the place out in their sleep! Enjoy!

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
