  2. Parthenon

Parthenon was originally a beautiful rendition of the structure of the same name in Greece, but HoM considerations reduced it to the vestige you see in the exact middle of the map. (For those interested, the original still exists, and if I ever find a way to use it, it will appear in it's entirety.)

What was hoped to be a challenging pwad for deathmatches grew into this sprawling series of hallways around a large courtyard with a few challenging outer rooms.

I'm still learning, so constructive criticism is appreciated.

BTW, as the editors continue to increase in utility, one has to look at wads completed when the editors were much more crude with a degree of wonder. Look at Megawatt, or one of the other 1993 wads and be amazed.

  6. Rift

This is a lovely little doom level that I created using Edmap112. It is a very large level with many bad guys and one rather large bad guy. It gave me many headaches while building, but in the end, I was very pleased. This version has implemented multi and deathmatch starts!!! Oh yes!

  10. THE PENTADROME

Overview: The pace of action in The Pentadrome is best suited for cooperative play, but once the monsters are thinned down, it's a fabulous place for a deathmatch. With few dead ends and lots of twists and secrets, The Pentadrome keeps you on the edge of your mouse pad (and your sanity!)

The objective is to explore the three major regions of the Pentadrome, which requires the player to locate 3 key cards, and then make it to the exit lift alive.

If you make it to the exit lift and still have a load of energy... find the secret button chamber (it'll be close by) that activates the showdown phase of The Pentadrome. If you have the stomach for the finale, be prepared to re-explore your immediate surroundings and take advantage of secret passages. If you look close, you'll always find them.

The finale comes in two phases. The second phase of the finale requires some creativity in getting up to the room that triggers the final showdown. When you find some new buttons durring the end-game, try pushing them and returning to the main arena to see the results.

    Good luck!

Give-Aways: The endgame is tough, but there is more than enough ammo around. You have to find it, though. Try the silver wall at the top of the exit lift!

Once you find the exit room (Southern tip of the main arena), you can take the lift to the exit or push on the West wall, which reveals a secret room. There you'll find a BFG and a button that triggers the first round of the showdown. A new chamber and tunnel also opens up.

The buttons that you find durring the end game (in the new tunnel) allow you to change the topography of the main arena in the Pentadrome. This can be useful when being chased by Cybedemons. Each "arm" of the main arena is split into four definned surfaces: 1) The main floor 2) Inner Column 3) Mid Fang 4) Outer Fang The Mid and Outer Fangs are arranged symetrically, like concentric triangles. The Inner Columns are in the middle of each Mid Fang. All of this is part of the main floor when the game begins. The middle button (of three) raises the Inner Columns to the ceiling. The other two buttons raise the Mid and Outer Fangs in incements of 16 and 32. The two buttons directly behind the outer buttons lower the corresponding Fangs to the floor. This can also be done with the two levers located in the balcony overlooking the main floor of the arena, which are visible at the start of the game.

To trigger the final phase of the finale, you have to raise the Fangs high enough into the air so that you can leap from the arena balcony onto the Outer Fang and then jump over to secret room that the Cacodemons came from. There you'll see a door and a button that starts the second round, which will also open up a new tunnel.

    Happy Hunting!

  11. Run N'Gun

Try to survive with your basic pistol? This is a VERY BASIC level. This is my first attempt at using a Doom Editor. The purpose was to familiarize myself with the very basic features of the editor. So, don't look for any elevators, lifts, or stairs. However, after a liberal sprinkling of a few "friends", who can't or won't provide me with nothing more than bullets, the level was enjoyable while testing the basic features of the editor. All weapons (except for the chainsaw) are here. Sufficient ammunition for all is likewise present. However, not too much in the way of medical assistance. That's why the name "Run N' Gun" was chosen. Because this is a complete learning process, I'll appreciate all comments.

  12. RAYGUN.WAD

This is my first WAD. Designed for single player, multiple player or Deathmatch modes, easy, medium or hard.

One of the qualities of DOOM is that it allows vertical motion. I tried to take advantage of that when designing this level. This is a large WAD, lots of bad guys, traps and puzzles. This is a long course. My best times so far are 7:14 min. with no monsters and about 28 min. at UV.

  13. RESCUE1.WAD

    Story so far:

You have just completed the last mission of episode 1 and killed the Barons of Hell. You make your way out of the bloody battle field to a locked central control center. After running a sercurity bypass you find a surplus of food and medical supplies. While sowing two of your fingers back on, you here a general distress call (G.D.C.) alarm from a con panel. You track its location to a small wharehouse 3 kilometers southwest of of your position. The transmittion is weak and broken up but you make out what it says... "MAYDAY...MAYDAY...MAYDAY...MARS MARINES DELTA SQUAD*&^%^ IN SECTO#$%#$( ... REQUEST EMERG*&^^*$@ AND RESCUE! OVER!" Thank God! You're not alone! Quickly you put on a headset and reply finding out there status and get a update on the aliens. It seems that they are planning another big party and the wharehouse is being setup as another gateway to their world! They have just started so they are not as dugin as others. These marines were captured to be sacrificed to the Lords of the under world for forgiveness for failing their mission ... oh yea and being kicked in the ass by you!!! You learn that only a hand full of troops are left and time is of the essence. You must find you buddies before you and your johnson are the only to normal people left on the planet! You send a planetary distress call and warning message to aproach planet with caution... You pick up what amo you have left and start again but this time with a glimer of hope.

I made this game to introduct a new way of thinking about mutliplayer games. They should not just start together but have that 'Rambo III' fill so that you just aren't clearing levels together but achieving an interactive goal that is set before you. This game is designed for four players... tried with two... seems to work!

It is one of my favourite level. It is not easy to beat at UV. Description ? Why are you still reading and not playing? Go ahead and check out yourself.

It was designed for Single Player. So do NOT complain if it sucks on Deathmatch.

Well I created this MAP quite some time ago. There are more perhaps better maps still waiting on my HDD. This is my first upload, just for try.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
