  3. Distorted Memories

    The general idea is to loosely recreate each episode of Doom but summed up with 2 maps per episode. Each map tries to emulate the mapping styles of the original doom. Also features a secret level, which is more of its own thing, as well as a deathmatch map (e2m1). For the best experience I recommend playing with just the keyboard.

    A level i made for the BotB contest, where the purpose was to create a single map for vanilla Doom or Boom, so i've decided to create this map.

    Is an abstract structure made out mostly from Wood / Vines / Rock textures sets in a floating place in fucking somewhere. Unluckily for you, i've going in this map with a pretty much random layout approach, so sorry if you found yourself lost.

  7. Deimos Condensed

    Hellbase map. 20-50 minutes of play. Plucks various elements from the Deimos levels. Heavy use of dark. Alternate routes available. (ie. keycards are easier to obtain than skull keys) Gratuitous combat. Lots of monsters. Somewhat moderate and open space.

    All in all, it's a large, self-contained and unravelling puzzle. Done because I felt like making a large puzzle.

    You've infiltrated yet another lost, occupied base on the shores of hell. Traverse each room, run about the map scrounging for health and ammunition. Get to the exit. Kill all the monsters.

    My Boss level replacement for e1m8...22 years later

    After exiting the Computer Station you knew the worst was up ahead. You still hadn't reached the place where the demons were coming from. The steel door shuts behind you as you realize you're there; you're at the Phobos Anomaly. Cracks from hell are all over the place as seepage from the portal invades the entire installation. Now it's time to find the portal and stop the demons from coming through. You know UAC had hundreds of scientists working at a high-tech lab somewhere in this area, and the portal must be connected to it somehow. Time to lock and load.

  12. Demon Base

    According to your watch, it's the 12th of June. Which is odd, because it was definitely the 5th of June about five seconds ago, and you were at your friend's birthday party, not here... Frantically, you cast your mind back to the time which was presumably a week ago. There was that girl; a real shocker. That was your most recent memory - the girl. Cascading chestnut-brown hair and bright blue eyes; shame about the complexion. Actually, hang on, how many people have you seen with grey skin hanging off them...? And was that really her cheap perfume that smelt of rotting flesh...? More memories come back to you, fleeting glimpses of something almost like those movies you weren't allowed to stay up to watch as a kid. Rooms full of zombies... evil experiments in dark laboratories... more and cheaper ways to efficiently zombify lots of people at once. The worst thing was, you seemed to be helping them! Something fishy's up on the Martian colony. You jump up from where you are sitting, and decide there and then to go and do something about it. And there the story starts... This file was originally distributed (via my web site) as DBASE.WAD but later renamed to avoid conflicting with another file in the idgames archive.

  14. Fernito's Phobos base (silly name, I know, but I haven't thought of an official name yet xD).

    Yet another Phobos base-themed episode, although I tried that levels actually looked like what they're named after, instead of looking like just generic bases like they did in the original game (don't take me wrong by the way, I LOVE the original game maps :). Also, while the maps are meant to be more detailed than the original levels, they are by no means as detailed as in some other WADs like KDIZD, for example.

    On a side note, these here are my very first Doom maps. I used to map for Duke Nukem 3D before, but I always wanted to make maps for Doom, so one day I stopped being lazy and downloaded Doom Builder 2. I was surprised at how easy and intuitive it was to use, specially compared to Duke Nukem 3D's Build and Mapster32 mapping utilities.

    NOTE TO ALL VANILLA-DOOM LOVERS: the only reason why this WAD needs an "advanced" port is to get rid of the visplane limits; the gameplay and mapping style is pretty much what you would expect from a vanilla-compatible WAD (so don't expect fancy ZDoom effects or whatever).

    A collab map in the E2M5/E2M6/E2M7 vein which at least 2 or 3 other Doomworld members assisted on building with me so the distinct styles show. I did post on Wads & Mods with screens but I had no luck. Maybe someone in the comments below will..

    The level was built in June 2011 but since it was completed, it sat on my hard drive as I forgot about it. Now I saw I've not uploaded it until now, I'd say it's about time I did.

    What happens if you going into the phobos sewers? Well, the reply to this answer is here!

    Anyway, it's a little (maybe too little, for e1 standards) map made by me (originally planned for Doom: The Way ID Did, but i realized isn't so... Romero-ish) coming out from a sewer place (like in Underhalls) in original knee deep in the dead way, so i tried to create a romero style level, and the result of this experiment is this. Enjoy.

  20. Evil Unleashed

    A medium sized classic doom map with an decent layout and entertaining gameplay which leans more to the easy side. The map started out as nothing really serious, but for some reason the map kept interesting me long enough to finish it. Its probably not the best map that I have made, but its definitely one of the most classic looking ones I made so far. Some areas feel like they are inspired on doom E1 while other areas look more like E2/E3, so its a bit of an mixed bunch of themes.

      I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

      Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

      A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

      Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

      I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
