About This File

'Equinox' is a 13 level wad. I mainly did it for the new graphics, sound and music. Go nuts.

Even though I am a kickass ammo conservator, I had problems with ammo balance in these maps especially with the later levels. However, health was a little abundant in the early maps as well so when I got further into the levels I found I wasn't able to rely on pickups. The levels are great but it could do without the inconvenience of having a high health monster blocking an important corridor in many of the maps.

The maps are good in general but the difficulty is TOO FUCKING HARD!!! I DIED OVER 50 TIMES!!! What was in your head when you made the maps so goddamned hard? Sorry but I can't give more than 3 stars, so 3/5.

I liked the way the gun echoed, but man, that music is just terrible. It's cool, but the design gets a little old after a while.4/5

Hey kids, no personal attacks here, okay? We are here to comment a gift... And what a great gift, this one!!! A pure marvel, except the last level, totally crazzy and without any gameplay... I passed it as a God and with a heavy use of "gimme ammos". I prefer to say that it's a 12 maps pwad... with an extra map for aliens!!! LOL! Jive.

This defines epic. I think I shat myself out of pure amazement the first time I played through this. Probably still my favorite WAD.

Au contraire, the music is great! That's right, this is a beautiful wad! Really cool settings and some of the most fun I ever had with Doom for a really long time.

I've been playing this wad for a good straight year now, and I JUST realized the secret beachside caveroom on the first level. I like the sandy footprint hint you did there :D

I was really impressed with this map pack. The setting's nice and the level layout's are pretty good. But as someone already mentioned it's pretty hard, but then again so is Plutonia. Highly recommend this level pack. 5/5, I especially like using the Weapons Resource Wad on this, but that's just my preference :)

B.P.R.D. is a genius and this is the definitive proof of that. His CC2 map was quite awesome, but the way this episode progresses is unlike any other I've played. Brilliant stuff!

Awesome! Architecture is impressive if you like them very large. Note the hub system before hubs were in (Z)Doom, no less.

Since I first played this it's held a solid spot in my top 3 favorite WADs of all time. At times beautiful, terrifying, and strangely poignant, but always epic and incredibly atmospheric. I'll never forget the sensation of playing MAP13 for the first time. 200/5

In Boom, Map13 made my jaw drop, because you know...: *...this is THE finale. (Like a "THIS IS IT, EITHER WE SAVE EARTH, OR WE'RE GONE FOREVER." scenario) *...it's very surreal (almost scary for me), and you know the place USED to be a normal military center on Earth, and either: The compound is the original & they've abducted it, or it's a galactic copy of the original. *...the BG music cinches the feelings you should have when you see the compound inside & out: Fear, Awe, & Confusion

Putting a cyberdemon on map 04 where it stands right by the lift exit is really a big mark against this megawad. It's a shame it's ruined by silly things like that.

Wow, this is good. The graphics are excellent, but the levels are all well-designed.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
