About This File

It is a very huge map and realistyc ;). It was hard to do it. Maybe i´m in a mistake but it is the biggest map ever, made with doom2.wad textures, sounds, data, etc, except the sky and the music. Please, read this text careful, its very important. I cannot include the story in English, but if you speak Spanish, you can read it in the Spanish text. Enjoy it!!

It starts off nicely, good detail/progress and sweet indoor parts, later the map has problems with the scale: cramped indoor areas followed by too large outdoor areas (resulting in easy combat) Some puzzles seem very random and confusing and some traps in the last third are unsurvivable first time. At it´s best this plays like a lost map from Eternal DooM, but some other parts make me want to puke.. 4/5

It has its faults, but overall it's an amazing work. Maybe too big, though... -- 4/5

Yers. It's nice to see Doom levels from some ethnic mappers, but this has toilets in it, which is always a bad sign. It's very large but very fiddle and confusing, and reminds me a bit of some of the Duke Nukem 3D levels, but without the interactivity.

Just good. It has a lot of details (the library, the bar, the bathroom). I give it 4/5 just because it was made on 2003, so it hasn't any ZDoom features. A remake would be good. - uvazquez

I didn't really like this. The level is huge and confusing. I couldn't get through this map without noclipping since I had no idea where to go. The size of the map is impressive though. Some parts of the map looked kinda interesting. 3/5

"It's nice to see Doom levels from some ethnic mappers" - what on Earth? This is a huge level with 950 baddies, scattered around a small town. It has a football court (dig the nets), a church, a port, cinema, fantasy bits etc. Takes a while just to run through it even if you IDCLIP, let alone play. It has a 1995 feel, in that the design is quite simple and the action is a bit of a slog, 'cause you just fight wave after wave etc. Impressive as a spectacle.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
