About This File

This level is another in the "lucky" series. To play this level w/ any chance of completing it, you must use Super DooM Guns! For any of you with a heart problem or low Dooming ability erase this wad now, it's not worth your time! All others continue reading.

This level is, as are all in the series, a test for those who think they are adept at Dooming. This level is not impossible, just looks that way at first. Quite a few monsters inhabit the level with increased #s in UV setting. PLEASE DON'T USE THE CHEAT CODES! They won't show you if you are as good as you think you are. Well, GOODLUCK!

Bye the way, if you like the challenge of this level, call Doomer's Corner and D/L others of the "lucky" series (soon to be a Lucky Pack).

An arena. One star since it's by the co-founder of King Crimson.

This is dated July 1994. It has a smug, irritating readme, and the level is a load of rubbish. You fight 129 assorted monsters in an unimpressive STARTAN arena, but you have a BFG and the monsters kill each other, you can just run in circles. At the end there's no exit. I guess this was supposed to be a mid-1994 Deus Vult. Well, I've played Deus Vult. I admire Deus Vult. Deus Vult has entertained and challenged me. You, sir, are no Deus Vult.

A small ugly map with no exit. It even allows the player to walk out into the void. The map's stated purpose is to provide an extreme challenge. Well, there's stacks of health and ammo, plenty of room to move and ready-made infights. There's certainly no need for any super weapons patch. Even UV Tyson is dead easy. I can't see anyone getting anything useful out of this map, and would seriously question the merit of uploading it. OK, an archive's an archive, but this is a wholly worthless addition.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
