Haha I played this first when I was 12! Thank God I never made it past the Creeper, because due to a scare when I was 9 or 10, the Exorcist face scares me so bad that I can't think straight for hours! Still, inspires Ghouls vs. Humans, which is awesome. 5/5 - Conmon

I do say it was very freaky. I like how Cutman was able to put you on your toes every second. The only issue I had was the weapon being used. A bow and Arrow? Man if I were in this situation, I'd carry a Chainsaw and Boomstick... mainly a boomstick. But overall this wad did give me the creeps. Nicely done with the mood and suspense. -Alando1

I actually found this wad to be genuinely fun. I knew what it was when I was coming in so I guess I would have been more scared than I was, in this way I only die on the boss, though the result is always rather shocking. Requires some nerves and skill to play, but it's a little short - no? 4/5

Ghoul's Forest 3 is awesome! I watched my cousin play it and at first, I hated the s*%t out of it 'cause it was creepy, but then I got used to it and started playing myself. Also, my cousin edited the game so you could move around during the credits AND be able to kill Choke. Thank you Cutmanmike!:D

definately NOT too hard. the difficulty of this helps to achieve the fear factor. i view the previous 2 as alpha and beta and this is the final version...or is it?

What a fucking ton of pungent shit. The sprites used are reminiscent of what I would see if I'm watching Nick Jr. Secondly, the high-res fucking textures do nothing but cause CPU lag. Lastly, the fucking map is a huge circle with a bunch of fucking "trees" in it. This sucks mammoth cock on a regular basis. Fuck this shit. 0/5.

Worst wad of the series. Needs a proper sky texture, less copy-past work, more interesting combats.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
