About This File

Satanic is a hardcore and (I think) challenging ZDoom weapon/gameplay mod. The player becomes a necromancer, who has joined the eternal war. So, you'll have a chance to use both the darkest spells of the underground necromaniac cult and the fire-arms (who would be so careless wandering the Doom world without a gun, huh?)

The name of this mod came from the Warcraft III map 'Defence of the Ancients' (aka DotA), where player could assemble an artifact called Satanic, which granted player the ability to steal his enemies' life when attacking.

If you don't like the marvellous noir palette provided by Post, just remove the Noir.wad from the Satanic.pk3

It is strongly recommended to read the detailed description which could be found in the satanic.txt before playing this mod.

Some ideas in this are quite nice (the exploding, throwable head for example), but all in all it seems very unbalanced and buggy. Zombiemen killing you with two hits is just overboard! Another big let-down for me is the custom palette wich grayscales every color except red/pink. Try harder next time 2/5

Very awsome,it has so much "new" into it,this wad introduces new weapons and demons,and this has nice gimmicks,such as the "mindcontrol",whic h does what the name says,and some drain HP when you use them. But there are some cons... but i still give it a five outa five.

The weapons animations are the opposite of the modern shitty standard, which is hardly any. The mind control was awesome. The palette is interesting, but unfortunately it fucks up a lot of the original graphics like the explosion and it doesn't affect PNGs. The weapons are actually boring and the new monsters are overpowered, no matter if you know their pattern it doesn't change that fact and the palette makes some of them clash horribly. It shows the possibility of talent, though. 2/5

i thought the pallet looked cool, although if all textures/sprites/fla ts were made grayscale excluding red and the pallet left alone it would'v looked cooled

Innovative, and well done. It completely changes the way you play the game. It also makes it extremely difficult. For those who want hardcore difficulty without shit-tons of monsters or intentionally crappy weapons, look here.

It has the entire gameplay completely changed. It's impossible to play it like Doom. It's a very, very unusual thing. It's more "magic" than Heretic, or Hexen, or something. After a week, I feel it's very easy to play. But I'm not skilled with some very powerful things yet.

      I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

      A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

      Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

      I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
