Loved it. It's amazing how it's still possible to do a fresh look with a GSTONE texture theme even after all this time. So many imaginative visual details, it really does look awesome. It plays excellently as well, the design flows, wraps round on itself and surprises you with the best of them. Ammo perfectly balanced for me as well, I was always running out of at least one ammo type. What a WAD!

Excellent. I just wish there was a boss or fight at the end. It's even on Map30, after all! Want more maps from Iori - NDCP Map06, Songs of the Damned, and this level are all awesome.

Only thing I don't get is, why did the author move this to Map30 and not even bother to put in an end fight? Very anticlimatic. But taken as a level otherwise, it's 5 stars, quite easily in fact, so I'll forgive the anticlimax at the end. Also don't miss Songs of the Damned or Map06 of the NDCP as they are in a recognizably similar styles and at least very close in quality.

One of 2010's top single-map releases. My only complaint is there's no end battle. If there was a good end battle, this would actually have made a good Map30 for Doom II, a pinnacle of excellence rather than the rather "lame" Baphomet arena Map30 was. Still 5/5.

A truly epic adventure. A tough start with monsters in every nook and cranny, you'll need to keep moving. Some hidden bonuses provide much needed relief though it gets easier once you find the SSG. In the end I didn't even need the Plasma or BFG. Lots of hanging back and sniping but still a massive heap of fun. 4/5

Truly epic designed fortress offering the player many times a view to the forthcoming parts. As said above great flow and nicely fit together with great use of height differences. Gameplay is great but a bit too easy thanks to amount of health/ammo and the great sniping opportunities. It's in that respect the opposite from Lutz dying end. It lacks the finale this map deserves, one of the best for me in 2010 coldfusio 5/5

Great map - I liked the layout, detail, gameplay. Could have used some bang at the end, though. 5*

Great outdoor castle-like level with great detail and slick action. Just the right amount of ammo and health too. Very good. 5 stars. -TRRobin.

The author has a great eye for beautiful architecture, an innovative mind, and has made gameplay top notch. He truly demonstrates an understanding of level design that few posses. 5/5 NT

I wish I could make levels like this, the map flowed really well and it connected together nicely to ensure there was never too much backtracking. The gameplay was tough but not too hard, the alignment was poor but who cares 5 stars

I love music 30 and I really liked this map. The only thing I didn't like was the BFG not taking out the archvile, causing me to die.

This map was great but something was missing. I think there should have been an Icon of Sin boss battle.

Meh. Convoluted green-marble level; if that's your thing, check it out, otherwise skip it.

Loved it. The design is really complicated, but smart and I didn't have a lot of issues with navigation. I mostly don't enjoy this style of start with lot of monsters around but this level navigates you out of them well. Details and gameplay are really nice. Gem. 4.5/5 - Damned

This is truly what I expect hell to be like, from playing Doom all the time. Nobody else has gotten it since.

I genuinely enjoyed this mod with its level design and music. It was challenging and interesting and it kept me playing a while after beating it to try to find anything. though I would say it was slightly repetitive and overwhelming with enemies at some moments.

Writing a review for Darkening 2 is tough. It's a beloved megawad, and for good reason. As many other reviewers have said, it is historically a very important project.   It was an important megawad for me personally. I fell in love with the first level in particular. The music, the realistic architecture, so reminiscent of the video games of the 90s... It all left a lasting impression. And it was one of the most beautiful wads I've seen at the time.   But I rarely played anyt

A competently made map, for sure, but fun? It's way too long and repetitive, with same-y combat & ambush scenarios used again and again, and with way too much enemies, and not that much of a challenge, even for me who isn't exactly fond of "SUPER HARD WAD #9263!!!!11!. You can cut the whole thing in half, and then cut THAT half in half, and it would be a better map. Is it bad? No, just a little bit above average, mostly because it drags a bit too long.

Generally good map design, but the difficulty as is the case with pwads tends to be uneven even on HMP, especially when you mix them with what slaughtermaps tend to be (monster spam). Too many parts where, after pressing a switch, you'll spend some time killing enemies only to realise the map maker tried to get cute and spawned a bunch of hidden archviles somewhere to start reviving everyone while you were busy wasting ammo. This is especially unfun in parts with very little cover where you'll b

I like the part where I pay for the numerous murders I committed by getting beaten up by either a Mancubus or an Arachnotron, it changed my outlook on Monster Priority. Thank you "Problematic" Revenant #7, I have yet to find a way to repay him.
