The 128 kb mapping extragavanza "challenge"*

Recommended Posts

Wouldn't it be best to make a new thread? It's kinda confusing to have 16 pages of conversation about the first round still there

What a funny title, i'll check it out this evening!

Anyway, i've cleaned the OP, making this part of the challenge complete! The final one will start with another thread, i'll copypasta it from there to the new one and also change the filesize from 128 kb to 96 kb, or even get rid off the file size limit... but the then is not a challenge anymore i guess lol.

Fun map, even if a little empty and amateurish... Don't you mind if I made some smallish edits and use it in the 96 kb challenge? It will go on the starving resource section... You're ok with that?

Anyway, yesterday I was compiling the 128 kb challenge megawad adding the missing things like the TITLEPIC and a UMAPINFO, probably for this afternoon / evening a final release for idgames will be ready, if there's not major bugs...

Exciting, maybe DWMC will play our WAD at some time (even if I contributed only one map). A man can dream!

I tried to do the UMAPINFO but it crashes on prboom + for some reasons, did you know how to do it in a good way?

Seems pretty straightforward to me... maybe you just have a typo or something?

EDIT: First note on the .zip... it's confusing to have one called 128k_ud.wad and one called 128kb_ud.deh. They should be the same!

However, I think Prboom+ reads the dehacked inside the wad and so there's no need at at all for most players to care about typing -deh in their batch file that runs the mod. But for Boom players I can't remember had it parsed internal dehacked or not

Grats on the release and I just want to say it was a real joy being able to contribute to this when I was just starting to dip my toe into mapping. Thanks to everyone who offered demos, feedback and support when I needed them and to everyone who made really kick ass maps.

Yeah, I liked contributing to this project and I like the fact that it got released unlike other ones to which I've ever contributed: some of them are either dead or heavily stagnated (never seen a thing like TNT2 in terms of very long delays but still)
