Walter confetti Posted November 2, 2020 (edited) DOWNLOAD NOW! (idgames link) A boom (complevel 9) megawad made for the last year NaNoWADMo, completed in this month after a long pause of a year. 20 levels in total, 16 levels uses the 300 lines limit, 2 levels uses the 100 lines limit and 2 breaks the self-imposed limit of 100/300 line limits. Great. Also all the levels here are inspired from the Doom 2 stock music tracks. Includes as well monsters and things remakes with dehacked! Feedback and suggestions are very welcome and accepted! I hope you like it and having fun as i had fun making it! Edited December 13, 2021 by Walter confetti 29 Quote Share this post Link to post

Walter confetti Posted December 5, 2021 Sorry for necrobump, but i've got finally the time for complete fixing this wad, also uploaded on idgames because it was too long that lied in my USB flash drive. https://www.mediafire.com/file/qlbo83yiie9cbpx/mercuria.zip/file here's the file if you want to play it, some changes from the previous version are done. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Komaeda sucks! Posted December 6, 2021 really good maps, but the dehacked makes it very difficult to enjoy since every monster is faster and does more damage than you.without the dehacked it would be a very good map pack 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ChestedArmor Posted December 6, 2021 Uh, this is a fun one: First, the good: I adore story driven wads, this one nails it quite well. You mix custom and default textures pretty well, default is used pretty creativly. I especially like the black void parts are really visually interesting. The modified monsters are really well used. I consider using some of them for my own wads, like the Pain Elemental, Lost Soul, the Plasma Soldier and the one with the fast projectile. Maps are well designed, we got a good variety containing caves, space, tec-base and more. The modified weapons are fun too. The Chainsaw is finally useful, melting whole groups of pinkies, which otherwise would be just a chore to fight against, but not too powerful to be used 24/7. Plasma Weapons got a satisfying buff, Plasma Rifle stun locks really well and BFG shoots fast enough to make the last levels possible. Combat is fun and varied, even though you can feel the small number of heavier enemies. Lot's of hordes of low health enemies. The last level was phenominal, even if a good chunk harder than the rest of the wad, the entrance with the screams of all 3 bosses at once is back shivering. Last, but not least the great amount of fun personal touches, like the infinite treadmil or the ending, are a big plus. Now, to the bad: Some modified enemies show bugs in animation and sounds. The Revenant replacement walks slower than he moves, it looks like they are ice skating. The flying Mancubus search sound is his wake up scream, evolving into an earrape everytime one is nearby. Why does the Plasma Imp use the Pinky roars? It's really disturbing. You should probably disable crouch and jump, because Im not sure if some skips are intentionally or not, but then again, it could all be on purpose, because I had to cheat on some levels, because I couldn't find the way forward. My biggest complaint is, that this wad cries for custom music. Sure, the old classics are still a banger, but they fit more with vanilla style mods, which this one sure isn't. Overall, the best wad I've fully reviewed yet, 4/5 ice skating Revenants 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
pampoo79 Posted December 6, 2021 The new monsters are overall well done. I dont know where you got all those assets from (probably lots of Hexen/Heretic? I dont know those games) or which part you did yourself but apart from the Arachnotron animation skip mentioned in another comment and the guy shooting super fast fire balls the dehacked implementation is well done. The maps are well balanced although I took quite a lot of ammo with me through the levels. Lots of creative energy went into all this. Unfortuantely the level design is rather bland, those large sectors are really not my cup of tea. Especially creating natural environment like caves is problematic in the primitive Doom engine. A bit more thought for details would be appreciated. The colors are either really loud or grey/black, the overall color theme felt 90ies somehow, not very organic. The use of textures wasnt very coherent, it remains unclear what kind of environment we're supposed to be exploring. Maybe think about what you want to build before you let it flow :) I played 45 min before I couldn't find the exit. Here's my recording, used the wrong input sound though. https://youtu.be/o731uxT7H80 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

I know because it's my most plundered resource. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Review wise Holy Snikees Batman-- Good job on using WHACKED to convert all that over from Decorate. I knew I was in for a crap storm when I saw those ZSPECOPs Pros: 1. Good use of monster art. 2. Those caves are really well done. Cons: 1. Exploding Lost Souls? Come on man. Not nice. 2. Holy freaking plasma. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
