Dusty_Rhodes Posted June 15, 2021 Not new to Doom, but new the mapping and modding scene. Scythe, Eternal Doom, and Alien Vendetta are my absolute favorites at the moments. Apparently they're tried and true classics. Definitely worth checking out. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
TenenteZashu Posted June 15, 2021 the Japanese Community Project is pretty much my number one, my only issue with it is the color-coded map 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Omniarch Posted June 15, 2021 No End In Sight. Also, everything mentioned in this gigapost of mine: https://www.doomworld.com/forum/post/2296525 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
garudave Posted June 15, 2021 I slept on Final Doom for a long long time, so I would recommend you check out those wads if you did the same as I did. Aside from the official wads, I've only really played through Alien Vendetta, which has about 5-6 all-timers in there. I'm three maps deep into TNT Revilution, the unofficial sequel to the TNT megawad from Final Doom. I can comfortably recommend it based on those three maps, it has some very satisfying combat and the visuals are great. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Final Verdict Posted June 18, 2021 Alien Vendetta, Memento Mori I & II, Scythe II and many others. The first 3 are my personal favourites but that's because things like MM were the first Wads I ever played. Naturally I'm going to be heavily biased towards them. If you're looking for something more modern though you have some great choices there also. Stuff like Valiant, Ancient Aliens, Eviternity and Heartland come to mind. That barely scratches the surface, there have been a lot of fantastic Wads over the last few years. Even if you get through all the big hitters there is a ton of other great Wads to sift through. Some of those lesser known gems are really good, but for whatever reason aren't as well known outside of Doomworld. Definitely worth checking out once you get through the popular Wads. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
CherubCorps Posted June 18, 2021 50 monsters and 1000 line def project 2. 1000 line def project 2 is one of the best community projects in years. 50 monsters is a great, fast paced megawad with great flow and short levels that are challenging, but can be beaten without saving due to their length. I think people will overlook these two megawads due to their names being so forgettable ("1000 line def project 2" has "Two" numbers in its title). Both these megawads are based on gimmicks placed in the titles. I think some of the best work comes out of projects that enforce limitations. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Taw Tu'lki Posted June 18, 2021 Scythe II, Tangerine Nightmare, Preacher. Some wads in neo-gothic style. 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
BedrockCastle Posted June 30, 2021 Scythe, Ancient Aliens, Valiant are some of my current favorites. Scythe is far easier than the other ones, and the first 20 maps of Scythe feel very similar to regular old classic Doom, which I adore. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
